This Is Starting to Look Like Hillary Part Two

Ever since Kamala Harris was announced as the Democrat's answer to Joe Biden, I have seen a very strong push by the media to prop her up. Now we are getting reports of polls, and a tightening race, and Republicans moving to support her. It looks, sounds and feels a lot like the push the media did to try to convince us there was all this support around Hillary Clinton in 2016 when she ran against Donald Trump. By the time we reached election day the media were touting polls suggesting there was a 92% probability Hillary Clinton would win the race handily, and when the results came in, she nearly lost it by a landslide. She wasn't even close to winning, and her loss became clear in very early counting of the votes. I am not saying the enthusiasm isn't real. I am simply saying we need to view it with an eye of cynicism because the media wants Kamala to win. They need to make it look like she is to try to push the needle forward. I won't count her out, of course. That's dangerous. But I am starting to see the exact same thing around Harris hype I saw around Hillary hype, and I think many Americans are seeing it as well. Of course, all we can do is wait and see. Election day is right around the corner. There has yet to be a debate. Who knows at this point what happens? At the same time, I think the more the media tries to paint her as winning, the less winning she actually is.

Hillary wasn't even close to winning? She won the popular vote! Yeah yeah I get it Electoral College blah blah blah but don't make it sound like she did terribly. I don't think this is hype re: Kamala. I think there is genuine enthusiasm for her being the candidate rather than Biden along with a fair amount of Trump fatigue in the Republican party.

@porwest I tend to think that she has a better chance of winning over independents than Trump does especially after the Project 2025 debacle, the selection of JD Vance, the Dobbs decision, and general Trump fatigue. I think independents, women, and the men who love their women will surprise us.

@porwest She's a loser. Kamala Harris is doomed to fail. Like Hillary, Kamala will fall flat on her face. Kamala WILL NOT be president.

@porwest politics sure takes unexpected turns every now and then. Trumps had to face two women opponents. That aren't faring too bad.

Harris is being hyped up and she seems to be getting a lot of support too. And I don't get why? Is it because she is a woman? I saw a video where she was asked how she would deal with something or fix it (sorry I forget what exactly it was about). She never answered what she was going to do; she just went on about the issue. And I think this happened many times before. Seems like she has no idea what she is going to do or how she is going to do it, whatever it may be. Do we really want someone like that to run our country? I'd say not.

@porwest Didn't she keep claiming that she in fact has been to the border? Even though we all know she was never there. It was probably their plan all along to get Harris to replace Biden. And they did it at the last minute so that the American people didn't have a say in who becomes the Democratic nominee. But why Harris? They could've chosen Hilary Clinton. Or even Michelle Obama. Not that they are that much better. Just wondering why her specifically.

@lovebuglena If they would have chosen anyone else they would not have been able to transfer the campaign money. That's really the only reason. On top of that, if they'd not have chosen her it would have been a de facto admission that the current administration was not successful enough (as they have been trying to say) as they led us to believe.

It is because they NEED her. They need SOMETHING. Anything. And she's all they've got. There's a reason she has made no TV appearances or held any interviews. That's because they need her to stay on script, and they can't do that if they let her speak freely. It will be back to cackles and word salads, and they can't afford that. They need to make her look like she's NOT Kamala Harris, which may be a funny thing to say, but at the same time is true. She was the most disliked VP in American history for a reason, and all they can do now is to separate her from herself. But, once she starts speaking off script? It's lights out for her, I think. As for deflecting, that's something Harris is good at. When they reminded her she'd never been to the border she said, "I've never been to Europe." Brilliant. But what does that have to do with the border that you were SPECIFICALLY in charge of FIXING? She is enjoying a honeymoon period, propped up by the media, but that won't last forever. Her true colors will show, and when they do... She will fall. And it will be fast, and hard.

Hilary Clinton won the popular vote by almost 3 million votes. In most countries that would have decided who won the election. But, she didn't campaign in three States in the rust belt region which precipitated her losing the electoral college vote to Trump. Bernie Sander's voters refuse to vote for her after Bernie drop out of the race. There is something fishy about the timing of FBI director's Comey's ( a Republican) disclosure about the Clinton e-mails. Let us not forget Trump's friend Putin who meddled in the election. Is Kamala facing similar problems?

@everwonderwhy Oh. For sure. The thing is going to be, how is she going to defend the economy, the border and inflation and ACTUALLY sell the price gouging lie? Even at the convention, they aren't really talking much about these issues—they can't even sell the lie to their own side, how are they going to sell it to the general public?

This is going to be a BIG problem for her to overcome with the three key issues Trump is winning against her on being things she CANNOT defend. The inflation. The border. The economy. She won't be able to talk her way around the realities that all of these things are failures she was part of.
