Coffee and Some Random Thoughts

Happy Wednesday Everyone! it's cooler here this morning but we have a rainy day ahead. Last night we had some downpours and thunderstorms and looks like today could be more of the same. I don't have much planned for today. With the weather being so miserable it's definitely a day to stay in. I'm about 3/4 through my book so I'm sure I'll finish it today. Then it's the" what to read next" game. I have quite a few books on my "to read" pile so it's just a matter of picking which one. I belong to a Facebook book group and someone is always talking about a book. I've gotten quite a few good books from this group and probably not books I ever would have read otherwise. My last trip to Hobby Lobby I picked up some pretty yarn on sale so I'm going to start crocheting an afghan for my grandson and his fiancé. They'll be getting married next May and I think an afghan would be a nice gift especially if she has a bridal shower. I'm a firm believer that I can never have enough books or yarn Is there something you feel you can't have enough of? Please don't say money

That's a good question. I would say based on results..spices. I am looking for saffron. One of the Food Network chefs they showed his spice pantry at home..wow! As big or bigger than my whole pantry, just filled with alphabetized spices.

@snowy22315 We love saffron! We only mainly use Persian (Iranian) saffron for our Persian dishes. A little goes a long way, especially if it's not used often. A super dinky bottle cost me $14 . . . but I think I got it a couple years or so ago. There is Spanish saffron which is cheaper but it's milder.

Saffron is expensive from the little I know about it. Not a spice I'm really familiar with but I do see them using it on cooking shows. Back in the day when I used to be more creative in the kitchen I would probably love a wide variety of spices.

It’s been humid here and rainy all week. We haven’t even gotten the weather from the hurricane down south yet so I bet next week will be awful weather as well. Right now I’m at my son’s counseling appointment waiting in the lobby for him to get out. I need another coffee and a bathroom after drinking my last coffee on the way here .

Looks like a week of rain for us here with it getting progressively worse as the weekend gets closer. We had some pretty bad rain last night with thunderstorms. So far today it's just a steady rain but it's so dark and dreary. Hope you were able to use the bathroom before your return trip home from your sons appointment.

@Marilynda1225 after waiting about 40 minutes I couldn’t take it anymore and had to ask to use the bathroom. Around 4am I woke up having to urinate but hoped I could sleep through it. I couldnt and by 5am had to get up and go. It hurt so badly and then was so painful the next few hours while laying there that I couldn’t sleep. When I have up laying in bed and went downstairs my bladder kept feeling full even when it was empty. I was urinating and having blood in it and it hurt so bad so I called the doctor. At 4pm I went to the doctor and checking my urine they said I had an infection and gave me a prescription for cipro. Hopefully I can sleep better tonight but with the fullness and pain I doubt it.

I am not greedy, money is necessary, but when we have enough to be comfortable I do not want more. I also can never have enough books.

@Marilynda1225 Both my husband and I have always loved books. Our house is full of books. I have more than 400 cookbooks.

@LadyDuck that is quite a collection of cookbooks. I used to have more than I do now but I gave some away (the ones I rarely used). But I do have my grandmothers cookbook which I treasure along with a few others that I use frequently.

I don't think any of us would turn down extra money but books is high on my can't have enough of. Even when I think I have enough I find one I "need"

@Marilynda1225 that is true but all I can afford since I cannot get to a store myself. If I could I would probably go every two weeks,

Do you still collect cookbooks? The weather there is probably more rainy and nasty than here. Hope it doesn't get too bad there as Debby moves up along the coast.

I have a few magnets that my grandkids gave me but your 100 magnets from all over the world must make you smile when you look at them. Did you travel to all those places or were they given to you from other peoples travels?

We would love to have some of your rain! I can't have enough: children's books, craft/art supplies (even though I don't do much crafting these days), thrift store clothing deals (especially summer dresses), fun dishes/bowls, food deals, music . . . there's more !

@Marilynda1225 Is it still raining? It's still hot here - no sign of rain. Glad you're not in a hurricane path. Oh yes, water damage from flooding must be so awful for those folks. Yes - thrift shopping is so much fun !

Wish I could send you some rain. We've had rain every day this week and it's just gloomy and dismal. At least we aren't in the middle of that hurricane which has caused so much flooding. I feel so bad for those people who have lost homes, cars, etc. Thrift store shopping is a whole other ballgame. So much fun to find treasures there.

I can't think of anything that I can't have enough of. Well, time that is the only thing. Time to stand still while with my family and enjoying each other's company. Today was a beautiful day here, in the mid to upper 20'sC which is mid 70's on your scale. We had 2 days like this, but tomorrow will be back to hot and humid.

Time is a great answer Julia. It's something I don't have enough of when it comes to family time. Every nce in awhile it would be nice to be able to rewind time and revisit some days from the past.

Rain is good for everything that grows. Otherwise, it's dreary. I hope you see sunshine soon. I'm glad you're enjoying your current book. I agree with you, you can't have too many books. I'm sure the same applies to yarn, though I never crocheted or knitted. I can't get enough time to do everything I want to do in a day. Time keeps racing to the end of the day.

@Marilynda1225 Good luck with selling your yarn. I like having hard copies. I'm not sure I'd like reading on Kindle, even if I had one.

Dark chocolate for me. I used to enjoy Lindt's 95% dark chocolate. I have recently discovered another brand which is Venchi's 80% dark chocolate. It is so tasty. Not too bitter and not sweet.
