Update and Stuff

Good evening, everyone. I wanted to provide an update as to how things are going now compared to about 24 hours ago.
First and foremost, THANK YOU for your prayers, thoughts, and concerns. I’m so blessed to be part of this community!
I have two issues that may or may not be related. One is irritable bowel syndrome, and the other is functional dyspepsia. They aren’t, based on what they’ve told me over the years, ailments like an ulcer or irritable bowel disorder (IBD). It’s nothing new. In fact, when I was 13 I was first diagnosed as having a “nervous stomach” (they didn’t call it functional dyspepsia then). Anyway, when I say I’m “worried sick,” it’s literal. I was extremely worried yesterday, and this is how it manifested itself.
Lots of blessings to pass along. First, the VA is picking up the bill for the ER visit. And I mean that could not have been easier to file! It took all of five minutes, once I got the correct department. (I initially called my “home” hospital, but they directed me to the national office that handles it.)
Secondly, I’m home…”resting comfortably,” as they say. I’ve had a couple of doses of the laxative, and I’m just waiting for it to take effect. I also have a call in to my primary care doctor for a follow-up. As soon as they get the test results from the hospital that treated me we’ll have that (that’s great, it means I don’t have to repeat the tests).
I ate today, and was actually hungry. I had NO appetite to speak of yesterday, so missing the evening meal by being at the hospital didn’t bother me in the least. Oh, they did do a covid test (because I told them that when I had covid back in 2020, it was in my gut and not my lungs), which was negative.
So I’ll rest up over the weekend (I had planned to come home tomorrow anyway), then we’ll see what happens next week.
Thank you all again for your concern. You’re wonderful.
The photo is me standing on the Route 66 shield on the road in Route 66 State Park. More about that later.

Better than I was. Which isn’t difficult…getting hit by a Mack truck would have improved things Wednesday.

@LindaOHio — thank you, but in the words of a Stones song, “it’s all over now.” I feel fine today.

@FourWalls I might do an update. Vince is doing really well thanks. Still not absolutely certain but the lung spot will probably just need watching with checking every six months or so. It's probably okay to ease off on the prayers now but they've been very much appreciated.

@rebelann — the brain does funny things to us. They used to call it “psychosomatic.”

If I understand the doctor correctly, it’s somatic…meaning my brain is doing it to me.
Thanks for your concern.

I am glad you are safely home and in the mend. No one wants to be sick, ever. But it’s just not good to be far from home when it happens. Take care of YOU, And you will soon be ready to roll out of town once again.

@MarieCoyle — I’ve been in Illinois hundreds of times without ER visits, so two times won’t spoil my opinion of the “Land of Lincoln.”

My pastor has gastroparesis, I believe she said. She mentions the symptoms from time to time, and when she got covid, it did attack her in the gut. Her doctor said that covid will attack you wherever you are the weakest. I am glad you thought to get tested and that you are at home resting and recovering.

Thank you. I’m very glad they did it to rule it out. Now I have to figure out why I keep showing a “normal-appearing” appendix when it was allegedly removed in 1995!

I feel relatively good, and even two hours before the flare up it wasn’t bad. Kooky body of mine…need to get on eBay and find a newer model.

I'm really glad dealing with the VA was easy - I've heard horror stories in the past, so it seems like they've cleaned up their act! I'm glad you are doing better. I had surgery yesterday morning - a uterine biopsy had tested negative for cancer but indicated the presence of polyps, so those had to go. I had a dilation and curettage to get rid of the whole uterine lining. I had it done before in my 20s and it was incredibly painful - all they gave me was a Tylenol. These days, they do it under full anaethesia, so the only pain I had was a sore throat post-op from the breathing tube. Hopefully I'm nice and cleaned out now!

Amazing how they told us to just “bite the bullet” back then. Thankful that your surgery was successful!
The VA has bipolar disorder. This was no problem, but the referral to my allergist, which I’ve had for over 30 years now, was changed from two years to two visits, expiring in three months.

I’m glad I didn’t have to stop to get gas or anything, too.
