Any device especially electronic device have a defined and projected end life. With proper care and maintainence, the electronic devices will have more than the average lifespan and sometimes if lucky for a longer duration that most expect. For me , I have had laptops ,smartphones and ipods which lasted for almost 5 years. I am yet to have an electronic device which has been in constant use last more than 5 years. In my childhood, I had a Casio game console which lasted around 10 years although I was not playing on it regularly. So, what has been the longest lifespan any of your electronic devices had?

My last TV before I bought this one...A CRT model lasted over 20 years. It was still working, but I wanted a flat screen.

The smartphone I had before my current one lasted seven years, and I’m told that is rare. My Kindle is going on seven years too, so we’ll see how long that lasts. Of course, I currently cannot find my Kindle, and by the time I do it might not work anymore either.

Definitely it is rare to have a smartphone lasting 7 years. Most last 3-5 years. Thanks for sharing!

I think that electronic gadgets last too little. They are still too expensive and they should not have to be replaced so soon.

Our TV is 13 years old and never had an issue until this year when the protective LCD film started peeling off. We also bought a game console at the same time, and the CD lens reader just broke a few months ago. Fortunately, we can still use it to play by downloading games instead of using the CD tray. I've heard that the new gadgets being sold today break easily, but I hope that's not the case, as it's almost time to replace our decade-old devices.

@RevivedWarrior The thing is... the tv is not a crt tv. It's an LCD TV by Sharp. If I were to buy a new one, the first option would always be a Sharp TV

I would say my printers last around a period of two to three years before they need to be replaced. The longest device that I know is my audio cassettes recorders that lasted around five years.

My laptop is more than 15 years and is still working. My previous smartphone was working but I changed it as it started losing charge very fast and got very slow.
