8/11/24 - Update on My Husband

My husband is still dealing with the heat since they can't run the AC units on the generator. He is lucky that his TV is working because many are not. It looks like power will not be restored there until Wednesday.
He has been trying to get some expectorant cough medicine for 3 days with no result. I will call the doctor that handles the facility and see if he can help.
I spoke with the nurse that handles my husband's room and told her he has not been getting his meals. There was one day that he had breakfast as the only meal. She said she would check her list and make sure that his room number is on it.
He will be starting physical therapy again on Monday after lying in bed for 11 days. I doubt he will be coming home next weekend. No one has tested him again for COVID or said how long he is to remain in quarantine. I may ask the doctor about that too.

depending on what meds & stuff they have him on I don't think
giving him any cough medicine will be a good idea.

They forgot to feed him?!?!? Whats wrong with that rehab, are they nuts??

Your poor husband. It's been one thing after another. I hope he continues to get better from Covid so that he can resume PT.
Regarding meals, do you have the option to have food delivered to him, or the ability to have someone bring him some food?

Yes, we've brought him food several times. I complained to the nurse about his not getting food; and he's getting 3 meals a day now.

What is going on with that place . . . is anyone doing their job??? This is completely not acceptable! For sure ask the doctor ALL those questions - keep bugging them and anyone you can get a hold of there!!! Hope your husband gets better from covid soon . . . may PT go well this week . . . and may he finally make it home very soon!!

Served only one meal? That's terrible! Cough medicine should be included in his daily care.

We have the food problem solved. I will check with the facility doctor and make sure he can have cough medicine with all the meds he takes.

I don't know how some 1 can be a worker & not do their frigging job
when it comes to the elderly in a rehab or nursing home like they do
it's just slap insane, I know when I was in rehab I had a few mishaps.
When I 1st got there I was incapacitated where I didn't know where
I was or when I got there & was very unable to do anything it was
a new experience that I didn't know what to expect or how I got there.
I had a few nurse's that I felt didn't really want to deal with what I
needed done like clean my bed every time I had to go # 2 or get
me back up from sliding down in the bed, I was in BAD shape.
But when husband was there he MADE sure they did what needed
to be done & he stayed there like for 3-4 hrs to keep a eye on them
& if something wasn't right he'd get a hold of some 1 to make it right.

@2ndchances24 I called the nurses' station yesterday to find out if my husband would be out of quarantine soon. She said to call back today. Sigh.

@LindaOHio yeah they tried that crap with me when they said I
had something & wanted me to stay in my room till I told them
they were crazy, they said I was contagious with something &
the PT was even boggled by it, but that's cause they had gotten
me confused with some 1 else, so yeah I'd watch that real close.

Good idea when you get the doctor on the phone to cover all the questions. I am going to guess you will have a hard time getting that doctor on the phone. If they cannot cool his room they should at least provide lots of cool drinks to your husband.

At least he doesn’t have the annoyance of his roommate’s blaring TV. You really need to suggest that you’re looking into legal action over his not being fed or medicated….
