In the east vegetable plantations are there in the middle of rice plantations

In Bengal the staple food is rice. In respect of farmlands the majority space is used for rice cultivation. In the countryside it is visible. Same is the case of Orissa and Andhra Pradesh. The vegetable farms are created in between the rice farms.

We saw rice crops when we were in Thailand. The land had all been terraced so it could be flooded.

@sathviksouvik I am ashamed to say I had no idea about rice being staple food of Bengal. Just like any average Indian I thought only southern states of India have rice as their main food.
