Do you care if J.D. Vance, Trump's V.P. pick, is LGBTQ+?

OK, so these pictures of J.D. Vance in drag have come out. So far as I know, he was in Law School at the time. In all honesty, I don't give a rat's ass if Vance is transgender, or whatever. But I would like to see his policies be consistent with his lifestyle. Does he support the gay community? I think not. He is Donald Trump's V.P. pick. As Michael Cohen points out in this video, what is repugnant is not having an "alternative" lifestyle. What is repugnant is criticizing those who share your lifestyle in service of your political career. What are your thoughts?

It might bother the MAGA cult. The fact that he’s part of the MAGA cult is what bothers me about him.

@TheHorse — if he did he wouldn’t be on the ticket. There’s no room for telling the emperor he has no clothes, or if he does it’s a brown shirt.

@FourWalls I think he really said something like that a few years ago.

But is he really? He compared Trump to Hitler.

I don't think it was Vance in "drag". He was wearing regular clothes and no makeup other than his guyliner. It wasn't even a real wig. George Santos as "Kitara Ravache" was drag. I think it was just JD wearing a costume or something. There are a lot of things to legitimately attack him for but that I don't think that picture is one of them. I'm more offended by the "childless cat ladies" comment and saying that forcing a woman impregnated by rape to have a baby is an "inconvenience".

@TheHorse Same. Drag doesn't offend me. LGBTQ doesn't offend me. Taking away a woman's right to control her body does. Saying that people with children deserve more votes than I do does.

I do not dislike him for playing dress up, and doing it poorly. I dislike his wishy washy flip flops and his rudeness, etc. etc.

It’s not drag. I don’t know that I care anymore about anything. Let’s just get to the election to see what hellish regime will be the one to drag us through mud in the next four years. But then, I’m being optimistic, aren’t I.

We've recovered pretty well in the last four years. Even if the price of bacon is still a bit high. I bought Canadian bacon instead the other day. I hope the trend continues.

Heh. I am a distant relative of Robert E. Lee. But it may be by marriage. I have no clue.

He can wear make-up, wear a dress and high heel pumps . . . I wouldn't care either. But from what I understand, he has anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-women policies .

@TheHorse Hmm . . . possible. But my gut feeling in this case is he is not part of a particular "community". That being said, I do think he is doing whatever it takes to bump up his political career.

Everyone talks about Donald Trump's "projection. But there's another interesting Freudian defense mechanism called "reaction formation." But I really don't care either.

He seems like a slightly odd dude. But I don't care if he's "gender-confused" in this way or that. I just care about policy.

Surely people get up to all sorts of out-of-character pranks when they're going through university, etc. I don't think I'd be attaching too much importance to it.

I don't either. I wonder what old pictures of me political enemies would find if I were running for public office. I was Rabbi Big Bird one Halloween.

I don't know what Trumps views are on the gay thing or the other gender issues. If he doesn't support something as basic as gay marriage then having a VP who maybe isn't 100% straight is a bit strange. Also, if you're not 100% straight why support someone who doesn't like you?? I only comment on the gay stuff not any gender related things as I have other views on those.

Vance may have mentioned some early gay/straight issues in his book. But I have not read it.

I saw the pictures, and I think anyone who saw them would have the common sense RIGHT AWAY to recognize these are NOT drag pictures. These are NOT Vance pretending to be a woman because he WANTS to be a woman. It is costume, and that seems quite evident at even a DISTANT glance. What comes to mind INSTANTLY for me when I see these pictures is frat party, initiation, or Halloween. And that's all it is.
