Something different roasted radishes

I am not really a radish fan .too peppery, and might just eat them thinly sliced in a salad However, someone posted online about roasted radishes and piqued my interest. Vegetables get sweeter when they are roasted and I think radishes might be very good. The person writing the discussion said they taste like potatoes.

@snowy22315 No, I haven't. I know we don't like brussels sprouts but they're okay roasted too.

I never knew they could be cooked until I saw one of those Rachael Ray Cooking Shows and she cooked some. It surprised me. That was around 5 years ago.

Yeah, never heard of it...might really improve the taste a little salt and garlic oil. I could see it.

@Juliaacv I am sure some people like them Sometimes your tastes change too. When I was young, like maybe 4-6 I hated tomatoes. I couldn't believe my friend neighbor kid just ate them with salt like an apple. I love tomatoes now. It was simply an acquired taste.

They just aren't that good. Garden salad mixes usually contain them thinly sliced..that is OK, but just eating a whole radish raw..no thank you.

@snowy22315 We had fresh radishes on the table while I was growing up every day. I never liked them, but I would pack a few into a container and take it, along with a sandwich up to the field when my Dad was planting and didn't stop to come in for supper.

I had roasted radishes for breakfast. Needed to use up some radishes in the fridge. They are good mixed with the other stuff I had.

I´m a radish fan so I´d never try to actually work more to take out what makes them better. The most I do, sometimes, is to slice them and add salt and lemon and they lose a bit of the peppery taste.

Roasted radish . . . interesting! We slice them to put in pozole (a Mexican soup) as a topping . . . I guess even in the bowl it kinda gets cooked . . . we don't taste that radish bitter bite. Hmmmm, I'll have to roast some !

If you do, let me know how you like them. Roasting in general does seem to improve the taste of veggies.

When I first tasted radishes, I thought they were too hot. Now, I like them! Roasted? Nope, I've never had them this way. Onions always get soft and sweeter, when fried.

They look like potatoes in the picture. I'm not fond of radishes either but I bet they're good roasted. I've gotten to a point where I roast almost all of my vegetables now instead of just steaming them.
