One week ago today.

It's been one week since Chilly crossed rainbow Bridge. One week since I found him, and George watched helplessly as I prepared to put him into the ground. One week since I put him in the ground. The blister on my finger has all but healed only faint traces it'd ever been there. I find it odd to not include Chilly in my conversations, unless I'm talking about past discressions. I find it hard to use "was" when refering to him. At least When I look down at the table I found him on, I don't still see him there. George made things a bit difficult today, but I still got his meds down him and his tube feed done.

You talk about Chilly, and I tear up. He was like a bright spot to hear about.

He had a lot of love to give. He would always meow and purr. He got real clingy after George came home from the hospital and wanted to be next to one or the other. It's nice we have the freedom to come and go, but it came at a cost. I dom't mean to make you cry. He really was a lovely cat.

I know it is difficult to lose such a loved family member. Our dog, Nayla, passed away in April 2009, and I still say good night to her every single night, all of these years later. All that I can tell you is that we are both very lucky to have known and been able to feel the love of such a beloved family member, not everyone gets that.

@just4him While it wasn't fun knowing Chilly slid off the couch onto the floor, I'm thankful he crossed peacefully at home with us. Better still, unlike with Precious, I didn't see him take his final breath. Another thing for us to be thankful for.

@kaylachan I needed to put my dog down 4 years ago. It was hard. But I got through it, and you will too.

We still mourn the loss of our fur babies. We talk about the funny and good times; but we are sad that they aren't here anymore. I firmly believe that we will see them all again. Have a good weekend.

When a pet leaves us, it definitely leaves a big gap in our hearts. A person just doesn't forget them. And after a pet loss, I found myself often looking down to make sure he/she was there...it's a habit a person never even knows they have, until the pet passes.

@kaylachan It's a habit we don't really realize we even have, until they are gone.

@kaylachan I'm sorry, it's hard to find them after they leave us. And the details of what we have to do to care for the pet after their lives are over aren't fun, either. Has George said anything about missing Chilly?

I still miss my dog Angel, and it's been at least a year if not a little longer since I had to put her down.

It isn't easy losing a family member, whether it be human or furry. I still miss Jonesy something fierce. She would be curled up on a chair, sound asleep, snoring like a lumber jack, and the phone would ring and after I answered it the big question would be "Do you have a man in your apartment?????" She snored like crazy and put human males to shame when it came to a snoring contest. We would get more laughs when the apartment management would call and Jonesy would be in the room, asleep, snoring full volume. We all mourned when she passed. I buried her in the corner of the lot by the edge of the wall where I can look down on her. The neighborhood cats come by and say hello to her when they come and eat. Thank you too for reminding me to take my meds...I just about forgot.

I am glad you were able to burry her. I was able to put Chilly in the ground, too. Joys of having a house. I don't think George thought I could do it.

Losing a pet isn't easy. I am sorry you lost him, but I am glad he had a long life. My grandmother had an outdoor cat that lived for almost 20 years.

I want to think Chilly lasted at least 18. Possibly longer. Math has never been my strong suit.
