Day 213 – Accountable
Joshua 14:1 These are the areas which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel distributed as an inheritance to them. 2 Their inheritance was by lot, as JEHOVAH had commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes and the half-tribe. 3 For Moses had given the inheritance of the two tribes and the half-tribe on the other side of the Jordan; but to the Levites he had given no inheritance among them. 4 For the children of Joseph were two tribes: Manasseh and Ephraim. And they gave no part to the Levites in the land, except cities to dwell in, with their common lands for their livestock and their property. 5 As JEHOVAH had commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did; and they divided the land.
6 Then the children of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal. Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him, “You know the word which JEHOVAH said to Moses the man of Elohiym concerning you and me in Kadesh Barnea. 7 I was forty years old when Moses the servant of JEHOVAH sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart. 8 Nevertheless, my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed JEHOVAH my Elohiym. 9 Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden will be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed JEHOVAH my Elohiym.’ 10 Now, behold, JEHOVAH has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since JEHOVAH spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. 11 As yet I am as strong this day as on the day Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in. 12 Now, therefore, give me this mountain of which JEHOVAH spoke in that day; for you heard how the Anakim were there, and the cities were great and fortified. It may be that JEHOVAH will be with me, and I will be able to drive them out as JEHOVAH said.”
13 Joshua blessed him and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance. 14 Hebron, therefore, became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite to this day, because he wholly followed JEHOVAH Elohiym of Israel.
15 The name of Hebron formerly was Kirjath Arba (Arba was the greatest man among the Anakim). Then the land had rest from war.
God’s name:
JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
Elohiym – Supreme God
Yeshuwa – Jesus
God’s character:
Provider
Promise Keeper
People make promises every day, but seldom follow through. When the person making the promises follows through and does what they said, it’s appreciated, and rare.
Moses made a promise to Caleb when he returned from spying out the land and told him he would have the land where he walked. Caleb reminded Joshua about the promise and Joshua followed through and gave Caleb the land he wanted.
Christians want to know the promises people make to them; they will follow through. Many Christians say they will do something, and then fail to follow through. You need to be people others can trust.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, you found someone who kept their promises. Yeshuwa never failed in anything He promised you. You need to be like Him, faithful in everything you say and do.
Caleb was eighty-five when he held Joshua accountable for what Moses promised him. It doesn’t matter how old or young you are, you can hold the person who promised accountable for what they promised. Caleb waited forty-five years to see the promise fulfilled. He knew the wait would be long because JEHOVAH promised Israel, He would not let the people cross over into the Promised Land for forty years. As soon as the land rested from war, Caleb went to Joshua to see the fulfillment of Moses’ promise to him.
You need to be a man or woman of Elohiym people can trust and hold accountable for what you promise them. When you are, people will know you are a person of your word and trust you to follow through on your promise to them.
Let’s pray: Father, help me to be accountable and follow through on the promises I make to others, not only Christians, but everyone I make a promise to. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

The word Christian means "Christ-like." And Jesus never said one thing and then did something different. He was a man of his word! Yes, Joshua was 85 years old, but the promises to Caleb(through Moses)were still Yeah and Amen. Caleb followed the Lord fully, and God honored him for being this way. And God will do the exact same thing for me or you, when we choose to follow God's voice. My promises must be kept, with every person.

@just4him If someone looks at me and doesn't see the light of Jesus, I am off track!

Yes, our word, carried through rightly, allows others to build trust in us, that we are someone of integrity.
When we are haphazard in fulfilling our word, and in honouring our promises, the trust in us by others will diminish, and eventually, all fall away.
