I finally finished The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins. It the prequel of The Hunger Games. She is gong to be writing another book of this series. There is a movie based on this book and I have seen it. Big Warning: there is lots of violence and some sad parts. Spoiler Below. Like I have said in my post about the movie, this takes place ten years after the first Hunger Games. Coriolanus Snow is in high school and he wants to go to university. He thinks he would be able to win a prize when the hunger games start. Instead of a prize, he and some of his classmates become mentors to the kids in the hunger games. He is assigned to Lucy Gray. Lucy Gray is a singer from District 12 (the same District as Katniss). Coriolanus Snow cheats and makes Lucy Gray the winner of the Hunger Games. They find out and send him to become a Peacemaker. He bribes his way to District 12 so he can be with Lucy Gray. While there he finds out his "best friend" has a plan to leave with the "rebels." He tapes his friend saying this and his friend is sent to the gallows. He wants to run away with Lucy, but he gets scared about doing that. Lucy asks Coriolanus how many he has killed. He lets it slip that he killed 3 people. Lucy asks him who the third person is and he refuses to say his "best friend." She leaves him and he gets bit by snake. He returns to base where he learns instead of being an officer in District 2, he is going to be in a class with Dr. Gaul. He kills Dean HighBottom. He does change the Hunger Games where people in the districts have some way to watch the Hunger Games and a prize for the victor. He also starts the Victor Village. (I think Katniss is a descendant of Lucy Gray. ) Here are the differences between movie and book: 1. Like I said in my post of the movie, one tribute stabs one of the mentors with a knife in the book and in the movie it was with a bottle. 2. In District 12, Coriolanus talks a test to become a officer in the book. He passes the test and becomes the youngest person to pass it. I liked this book. Now I'm reading Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler. No I am not going to the dark side. I just want to read it.

My granddaughter just finished that book (and loved it). She's going to lend it to me to read. I'd rather read the book before seeing the movie

I usually find that I prefer the book versions to the film versions.

I am a book lover but unfortunately I don't see a library in 20 km circle. Mein Kampf if I am not mistaken means my struggle. That man not only struggled but nearly conquered all Europe.
