A Question of Venue

Judge John Judge will hear an oral argument as to the location of the murder trial of Bryan Kohberger on August 29th at the Latah County Courthouse in Moscow, Idaho.
There has been an ongoing debate as to where the murder trial should take place. Kohberger was arrested back in December 2022 and charged with the murder of four college students from the University of Idaho, Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. Bryan Kohberger faces four counts of first-degree murder and one count of felony burglary. Prosecutors seek the death penalty if he is convicted.
The defense feels that Kohberger would not get a fair trial in Moscow and wants it moved to Boise. Bill Thompson, who is leading the prosecution, feels that the defense has failed to meet the burden under Idaho law to show that a venue change was either "necessary or convenient".
Why would a change of venue do anything to a case that has been set since December 2022 and is not to come to trial until June 2025? I think that even if the trial was held in Florida it would still be the same. It should have been brought to trial long ago. Such a ridiculous amount of time to let a murder trial set and fester in the minds of the public.

I know what you mean since it is a long time between the time of the arrest of Bryan Kohlberger and the date of the trail being in the summer of 2025.

I wonder if he won't be let off because evidence is lost. It's not good.

The trial should be held while details are fresh in the minds of all involved.
Have a good day.

I think that is a major aspect of all of this.
