I feel like I am losing my battle with depression

If I am so depressed during the summer what will I do when winter comes? Today I woke up late and I didn't want to get up. I am thinking of staying in bed all day. Of course, I take medication for depression and sleep, but I can tolerate only half of the pill. Doctors kept saying that I shouldn't take only half of the pill. I think I will ask for a different treatment. Just living is exhausting. Everything seems an effort. I don't stay in bed and I have to force myself to do things, but it's exhausting. I don't feel I am happy because I force myself to keep my body hydrated, to eat the food I need, to take my medication. Everything I do doesn't change my mood. I don't know what to do. Even eating and drinking tea is an effort. My body just wants to sleep all day. My mind is tired. I want to sleep all the time, but I can't. Each day is a struggle. Have you experienced depression? Did you overcome it?

She suggested me to try many types of medication. But the side effects were scary. The side effects were worse than panic attacks and depression. I couldn't sleep or eat because of medication. I almost ended up in hospital. And there is another problem. Doctors here stop medication suddenly. This is very dangerous.

@dya80dya You have some tough decisions to make. You are constantly in your head and focused on this though. You need to relax and enjoy nature by sitting outside when the weather is cooler though and marvel at creation. Do anything you can to put the focus off of yourself and how depressed you are. Try paint by number..play a game online.Do something to help someone else. I think honestly Diana you need a hospital or least a partial hospitilzation program, but I don't what is available in your country.

@snowy22315 These are good ideas. Even writing here sometimes helps me a lot. We have a partial hospitalization here. I went to the hospital every day if I didn't sleep there.

i have bad days too. they say it's just about changing your perspective but life is tough, i can't contradict that. i also sleep longer but that's cause the nights are fresh. i hope you won't be so harsh to yourself. like me, you deserve the best but, yes, i don't know why life is so cruel...

I am sorry to hear that. I think it is better to listen to your doctor. Besides it, try to do some exercises such as swimming, playing balls, running etc. As I heard that doing sports will be helpful to get rid of the depression. And having enough sunshine is also important to give you a better mood. I hope you will feel well soon

Depression is tough. I have gotten to know my depression over the years--I think I was a pretty depressed child and as an adult, I have had 3 bouts of major depression. I have come to know my triggers, and some warning signs for me along the way--so I can separate out my garden variety depression from a bad depression--for me, medication helps, but is only part of the solution. I got myself a good therapist and when things get bad, it helps to talk. I have also found for me that taking a walk outside everyday really helps--I am not sure if it is the routine of it, or the sunshine, or the exercise, but it seems to help. I also meditate everyday. I think you have to find what works for you--work with a therapist if you can. I find it comforting somehow to know that I am not in it alone.

Depression is very bad, i think you should take more care of your self and find a hobby like gardening.

I wish you could get the right medicine, one that will help change things for you.
I have not overcome it, all these years.
But the things I have to help are medicine, therapist, and walking out in nature and a movie.
I know you have the very bad depression Diana..I surely wish you could get some help.

I am very sorry to learn this, I could understand this... it's difficult to come out ... been there and still struggling, it's like a ticking bomb ... however I feel better when I start doing some kind of hands activity likes in crocheting, knitting, pickling or sometimes tutoring by younger ones and lastly walk every morning
