A fellow MyLotter suggested I get some cigars. I knew this day would come! My first sunflower is blooming!
I have two other younger siblings about to bloom.
My apartment is full of cigar smoke. It's 9 AM and I am already drunk on cognac.
I will also have a b*stard child soon. I checked the garden where I do my illegal planting at Kaiser the other day. One of my sunflowers there is abut four feet tall and almost ready to bloom.
How does your garden grow?
Photo is of my new grandson. Or is it a granddaughter?

I have only planted "easy" to grow veggies lately. I have now chard and arugula. I won´t let them blossom so there´s no possible way of becoming a granny. But I´m waiting eagerly to become a cannibal.

Why so? I actually find it very strange that you all have such large yard, and yet, most of you all don't grow flowers or fruits or vegetables. Only lawns, that need to be mowed.
I have a very small house in comparison, just 200 square yards to be precise. Custard apples, drumsticks, and papaya was grown there, in addition to tomatoes, coriander, curry leaves, some jasmine, etc. Including basil, hibiscus, and some lilies. I had to get the entire thing cleaned up, so that I can replant something...so lost all those plants.
But just 200 square years with what 850 sft. house on it......

@vandana7 It's good to see you. You were missed. We are too old and have mobility issues. Gardening is a thing of the past. Yes, we have a large home by comparison...over 2,000 square feet and a 1.25 acre lot. Have a good weekend.

I would suggest it is a sonflower. And you need a suitable name. Sol perhaps?

There is a balcony near the Pharmacy where Kaiser workers sometimes eat their lunch. On that balcony are several planters. I often have corn, sunflower and green bean seeds in my pocket (from working at friends' preschools). Over the years, when I have felt "devious," I have secretly planted seeds in those planters. Some years, large corn plants have emerged! I actually told my Dr. that I was the "secret planter." He laughed.

Congratulations it's a flower. Looks good. Our garden is currently being overrun by the pumpkin and squash plants. We're looking forward to eating those.

@lovebuglena Yeah, it's in a planter, so it just can't get too tall.
