It wasn't until Beryl I learned so many houses suffered unnecessary damage, especially leakage.
This was because nearly every time a workman is hired and gives his quote the people whine and ask him to 'take something off'.
The workman is not going to cut his day's take so what he takes off is particular materials. So none of the windows were caulked because that is what he took off.
In a number of cases what he took off was that lip at the bottom of the door to prevent the water coming in.
I never did that.
If you quote a figure I think is too high I'll ask someone else. If I need to pay in installments, I'll have the job broken down.
If I told you a price and you asked; "Can you Take Something Off?" I'd say: "Me."

It's a very misleading statement when someone says that it's cheap and best. Nothing good or best comes cheap. I have learnt it well with my experience.

@jaylar Very true. Inflation is for everyone and it's to be accounted.

@arunima25 It isn't just inflation. It is the fact that people always want a discount and when it is your safety there should be no request that the price be dropped
