August 24th onward....OH WHAT FUN!!!!

Actually I should start from the 23rd where the neighbors behind me were having a wonderful time until about 4:30 a.m.. There wasn't much sleep during their party, and I wished that something would interrupt their sleep as badly as ours was. Little did I know... I had finally gotten to some decent sleep when suddenly the sirens of HELL went off. I went straight up throwing covers, sheets, and cats across the room. It turned out to be the fire alarm, and it wasn't a DRILL!!!!!! This was about 7:15 a.m. on the 24th. I threw on my robe, got out the cat carriers and somehow managed to get the cats in their carriers (That isn't easy!!! I'd rather wrestle alligators; you know somewhere along the line they're going to take a breather!) anyhow I did get them in their carriers and carried them down three flights of steps. Man, Freya is a little chunk!!! She has to be close to 20 pounds. So there we stood, in our respective night clothes or morning dress, listening to the fire alarm blaring (they don't have to test that sucker) waiting for the fire department to come fight the fire. Finally, about 15 minutes into our freezing and showing off what we wear to sleep in, the fire department came. We still had to stand around while the fire department checked the building and made sure nothing was burning and everyone was out of their apartments. They finally came down and turned off that blasted alarm, and I cornered one of the firemen and asked if he could help with hauling the cats back up to the third floor. After an hour and a half we finally got to go back to our respective apartments. You could tell the true animal lovers, we made darned sure that the "Kids" were safe with us. Anyway, I learned from the one fireman (who graciously carried the two cats back up to the apartment) that the elevator broke down, AGAIN. Then today, a week after the event, we were informed that replacement parts had been ordered but there has been no date for shipment. It sounds like out July episode where we were without the darned thing for almost the full month. It wouldn't be so bad except there are a lot of us that can't really do stairs and there are heavy things we need to haul up to our apartments. As one of the residents put it, we're essentially prisoners in our own homes and get to pay for the rights. I think there is someone working in the elevator room. I heard some really loud crashing in the shaft...unless the elevator is finally totally letting go. But that's not my problem unless it reaches the point of needing a noise maker.... I'm going to again warn the people out there to be careful and take care of themselves. While what I have isn't covid, it is a real pain to deal with. I went shopping Wednesday, I didn't do a lot but what I did really wiped me out and I didn't do anything yesterday and today wasn't too much better. I'm going to try to work on some bears and maybe try crocheting other critters until I get back on my feet. I did go through paperwork and got rid of a bunch of stuff I really didn't need, I found a bunch of faux fur and upcycled fur pieces that I am going to play with and see what kind of critters I can come up with. The cats will love all the fur pieces laying around for them to sleep on. They don't run the house at all! So, as you can well see, things have been SNAFU. The elevator managed to take out my internet, which in turn forced me to call the providers costumer service line, which told me that I could deal with the situation on my internet, which wasn't working because.... I finally said the heck with it and took a lot of naps and things like that there. I am starting to show interest in bears again and also learning to do various crocheted critters so I must be getting to feeling a little bit better. My next appointment is with a Pain Clinic. I think that they are the ones living up to their name, that they are going to be the pain. They want to know how many hours a day I exercise and what I do for exercise. UHHH, I am tempted to tell a little white lie and say that I am working towards trying out for the Olympic all around exercise guru. I guess I should post this and go to my home page and finish my paperwork for my apartment lease. It's either that or become homeless which is illegal in this state. Hummmmmm, maybe it's better that I live in that bucket rather than read the headlines and what the newsmakers are doing. It's kind of like receiving a call today that someone was going to send something, was my address still 4250....I said that I hadn't lived there for going on 7 years October 2nd. That the local electric company burned down my home for me..They wanted my current address and I gave them the one for the local police department. On that note, have a great weekend and if anything interesting happens I'll post about it. Virtual hugs to all, don't catch this virus, it's horrible!!! L & H's Toni, Petey and Freya (the "little" chunk)

I own a home so I don't have that problem. However, if I thought we had to get the hell out of doudge, I would've done the same thing if Chilly was still alive. George would've been like 'let them run'. Well, I'm glad the crisis was adverted and you are safe and sound back in your apartment.

Sounds Like Last night was a disaster the night from hell for you. It started with the loud party next door that you wasn’t invited to, and the noise was unbearable. Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. To top it off, the elevator was out of order, making the situation even more frustrating. Your cat, at least, was well-fed and safe, but getting back to your apartment must of been a nightmare. Because You had to climb several flights of stairs, exhausted and stressed. The only good part of the night was when a kind and caring fireman helped you out. I guess He saw how tired you was and carried your cat up the stairs for you. His kindness was the only bright spot in an otherwise terrible night.

In an emergency the first thing we will grab is the two cats. Than survival food and water. Than the laptops, cell phone and clothes. Those are all the things that I need.

I doubt if I would be able to find Pretty cat if an alarm sounded like that. Glad that's all it was.
