Colin Gray knew that his 14 year old son had been investigated by law enforcement for making online threats about committing a school shooting so he did what any reasonable and responsible parent would do. . . he bought him an AR-15 style rifle as a Christmas present. Gee what a shocker that said child would then use said rifle to commit a school shooting.
I think it is great that he has been charged with 2 counts of second-degree murder and 4 counts of involuntary manslaughter. He definitely has responsibility in the fact that 4 people are dead and many more are injured. He is the one who bought the gun. He is the one who gave the gun to his son. He is the one who did not ensure that the gun was properly secured. If he is convicted on all counts he could be sentenced to up to 180 years in prison.
The 2nd Amendment gun nuts are the same people who love to claim that educators are indoctrinating their children into various liberal beliefs. It seems to me that giving a young teenager an AR-15 style semiautomatic rifle for Christmas is some hard-core indoctrination into the world of guns. Hmmmm. . . which is worse? Encouraging green energy or giving free and unfettered access to a weapon of war?
Don't want to be held responsible for your child shooting up their school? Maybe don't give them a gun or at the very least make sure the thing is locked up when you are not supervising them with it.

Even if a had a rifle inside of my home, I would keep it under lock and key. My relatives and myself do not like rifles at all.

Some of the conversations I hear even at elementary level are scary. No way would I give an unbalanced teen a powerful weapon.
