No ground soil on this aquarium

It's started out with just plants, then a few fish. Then I have put the sponge and then air filters. This tank used to have a soil but I removed it and put soil on the ground on the other two tanks instead. I'm supposed to do water change but got interrupted by tenant over something. So far, one dead fish on this tank.

This is just ten gallon fish tank @iKONICNoona. I have bigger containers though but not like those 20 gallon plus, but they have similar litters of water.

I don't like the idea of using soil in my tank which I have a 75 gal but I do use gravel cause of the plants I have & being I'm working on setting it back up again I'm thinking with what few plants I have I have some clear plastic bowls I bought last year to put the plants in & then the gravel over them & have a open floor. That means less weight & rocks & cleaning I like that idea.

I'm not much of a design person, just want to grow some aquatic plants. But the ones with the java moss just hard to keep the algae out

@Letranknight2015 do you watch any Videos on how to grow aquatic plants? I can tell you that's how I keep my plants growing & I also put some outside in a tank to let them get the sunshine that helps a lot too, my plants I have in the 20 gal outside has really grown since they've been outside. My java fern is 3 X's the size it was when I 1st put it outside in a 20 gal tank & my water lilies have taken off where I've got to get them back in the 75 gal soon, which I'm working on doing this week.
