Lately

a design I did

Lately, I had been drawn to the desert. I wonder why. I guess a change of scenery is in order once again. Though I do love the coast with the wild and windy sea, sometimes I wonder what it would be like to be living in the still of the desert in a glass house with wide views. Boiling, I imagine in all reality. Do any of you live in the desert?

I just saw a picture of a hotel in a desert in another online community. It looked gorgeous. I would love to stay there for a while if the hotel has all the necessary amenities.

Thankfully, no. But our friends from Vagus and Calfornia come close. I think we have a member or two here from Arazona which is also desert teritory.

OCEAN Tiara likes the desert??? Well, as America sang in “A Horse With No Name,” “the ocean is a desert with its life underground and the perfect disguise above.” When I stopped at Badlands National Park a few years ago all I could do was stare at that scenery and weep for joy. I had never seen such incredible beauty. It’s not just “an empty wasteland.” It’s amazing.

With the very hot summer in Florida I feel like I live in the desert. That would be way too hot for me.

I can't imagine living in a desert. I guess some people like it, but I love our trees and flowers and the ocean.

@RebeccasFarm In some ways I'm better...the new med is a life changer, but it doesn't address whatever is wrong. I'm able to eat, but docs can't find out why I lost 15 pounds since April and was in so much pain. Take care, dear friend.

We lived in a hot, cry area for a while but it wasn't exactly boiling. I'd prefer something a bit greener.

I did live close to a desert in my early part of life , in the middle east. It is something that all would get acquainted with. It is hot and humid for most times of the day. Water needs to be supplied as water would not be readily available. You need to insulate the house well , else scorpions and desert spiders would enter the house. Indoor air conditioning is a must and you need to have the air conditioning run non-stop due to the hot conditions. Your front doors would be mostly metallic to resist the strong winds and conditions. Well, it is a tough life in or near the desert .

That sounds like an incredible experience! Living in a desert environment certainly presents unique challenges. I can imagine the constant battle against heat, humidity, and the ever-present threat of desert creatures. It's fascinating to hear about the adaptations people have made to survive in such harsh conditions. The need for constant air conditioning and sturdy metallic doors must be a necessity. Thanks for sharing your insights!
