I had the TV on during my nap in some show I can´t remember when in 2 seconds it finished and Forrest Gump started. I don´t know how many times I have watched that movie. Now I can do other things while I just listen to it. But still, there are parts that make my eyes watery. So I decided that I´d put together the ingredients for the salad after Forrest Gump ended. And now the sun went down, the salad is at my side and I´m eating it and mylotting. There are movies, even good ones, that you watch them once and it is enough. Then there are others that you want to watch again but only after some time has gone by. This movie is perfect. I think that Tom Hanks is a wonderful actor and love many (if not all) of his films. But this one is my favorite. I think that my second best by Tom Hanks is Philadelphia. But I´m not sure. There are so many good ones. What are your favorites? Something I like a lot about Tom Hank too is that he is not a star with lots of problems. He happens to like acting and he does it well. He does not need to be a drug addict or to beat his wife.

Yes, Forest Gump is a good movie. I enjoy most of what Tom Hanks does. I saw one he did just recently but can't recall the title. He portrayed a grumpy old man. Oh, yeah. It was "A Man Called Otto". Very good and, a real different type of character than he usually portrays.

@celticeagle I read the book they based "A Man Called Otto" on while my sister watched the movie. She loved Tom Hanks in the movie. I love Tom Hanks too. He came to my hometown to make a movie some years ago and everybody was exclaiming how nice Tom Hanks really is.

I read the book that of course the movie was based on. My sister was still alive then, and we shared so many books as we both loved to read. I made the comment that the book would make an incredible movie. A few years later, it did! I love the Forrest Gump movie.

@marguicha Like all books vs. the movie that comes afterwards, there is a bit of a difference in some of the events. The book was really, really good--but the movie was the best. Still, you get some insight from the book.

Forrest Gump is such a classic! Tom Hanks really nailed it in that role. Philadelphia is a powerful film, too—his performances are always so impactful.

Both movies are incredible in a very different way. In both the characters were a minority that needed to be shown with humanity.

Potato salad can be done in different ways but all are based on diced cooked potatoes. After you do that you can add whatever you like. My grandchildren like it with oil, salt and lemon juice. And they add fresh dice parsley. I like it with mayo, hard boiled eggs and diced dill pickles. You can look at recipes online and imagine the dish. I do that a lot with Indian dishes.
