There is no limit how far the world wants to reach ursing the technology route. New technology needs fossil fuel that emits carbon dioxide which is the main cause of global warming. Do we really need what we are seeing in the world today - new technology Can we not survive happily without it? Your opinion please.

There are a lot of things we do not really need. Bitcoin mining resulted in annual carbon emission representing 0.2% of global emissions, which is comparable to the level of emissions of Greece.

I fully agree with you. There are a few things I know do help us but there is no limit to proogress at the cost of global warming that we can easily do without.

@allknowing - We need some things, but not everything the governments are trying to impose to us.

it has its pros and cons. While technology consumes resources and boosts energy demand, these new technologies can also help us gain efficiency to help manage environmental problems

@rakski There is no going back on upgrading technologies and all this at a cost. In most cases there is no choice.

What use are those 'pros' when we have to deal with 'cons'?

@allknowing just like what newtons 3rd law of motion said, in every action, there will be an equal and opposite reaction. Mostly there will all be advantages and disadvantages to things. We just have to choose the more disadvantageous without too much consequences

I agree with @jefferson126 global warming is from pollution.

I don't think technology has caused global warming. I don't think people will survive without it.

There is just so much we need as far as technology is concerned. But what we see is there is no limit I have already stated what limitless technology does to the environment

I don't agree with you on technology,Tech changed our life, make our life happier.Global warm is caused by pollution instead of technology. Not much technologys produced pollution.Even if few technology polluted air,but ppl should come up with a way to solve pollution in the meantime of technology development,it's not fault of technology itself.

I got this info from the Net: "The energy needed to power devices, data centers, and servers can lead to greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming. Fossil fuel use Technology is often powered by fossil fuels, which release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Energy consumption New technology can lead to more energy consumption, such as air conditioning in buildings. Transportation Modern technology can lead to more transportation, such as cars, trains, and planes, which can emit carbon dioxide. E-waste Improperly managed e-waste can lead to industrial processes that emit pollutants into the air and water. Digital consumption The average internet user's digital consumption results in the emission of 229 kilograms of carbon dioxide per year. "

@jefferson126 I read that if we painted everything white that would slow down global warming. We are not doing that either.

@allknowing ,I think we are not discuss same point,Technology had huge range, not every new technology casued pollution, for example, mobile payment was a new technology,i didn't see pollution from this tech, and many new technologys won't increase pollution. You mentioned industrial technology, even few industrial techs produce pollution,we should work out a way to decrease pollution, rather than attributed pollution to technology.Techs advanced our life greatly. As modern ppl, can't live without Techs.

I do not exactly agree on that. More than technology , it is the human behaviour which has been causing issue. We have the potential to use renewable energy for our needs and reduce the carbon emission. However, the participation from every nation , every human has been less than what is needed at this point of time. So , we cannot exactly blame on the technology for the issues of climate change. Again, there are few organizations and countries who are committed to reduce carbon emission year on year. We should look at technologies or encourage technologies to depend on less carbon emission and depend more on renewable energy.

Technologies help reduce global warming which is caused by a lifestyle that is supported by technology.

I have same opinion that global warm was caused by human behaviour rather than technology,It's not fair attribute pollution to technology.

I think technology is the chief cause of Global Warming. However, I still believe that the solution to Global Warming can be through the same technology!

I agree with you but the solution is to do away with that which was due to technology in the firsit place.
