What's going on up here? Ah apartment-living life

First of all I haven't seen or smelled Smoky McSmokypants in like a week. He spends most of his time out on the landing alternating between cigarettes and pot. There are usually cigarette butts all over the place. They still are around but I haven't seen any new ones lately. I don't know if he moved out or what. I don't particularly care but it is just curious. Apparently when you live in an apartment complex you get nosy about what is going on around you.
Another neighbor up here has a letter on his door. He is the only one with a letter on the door. That is never good. When we all get them it means that there is a fire inspection or powerwashing or whatever coming up. I know that he always waits until the 1st of the month to drop off the rent check. If it isn't paid by the 5th you find a letter on the door. Today is the 12th and there is a second letter. I would bet that it is threatening eviction. . . and that is a very real possibility. His wife doesn't work, they have 2 children, and now his wife is pregnant again. He told me he was going to have to get a second job to try to pay the bills. I hate that. I mean good for him for trying to do what he has to do to support his family but he shouldn't be in this situation. The wife simply doesn't want to work and tricked him into getting her pregnant again. Yeah that's all well and good until none of them have somewhere to live.
I won't be sad if Smoky is gone for good. I honestly wouldn't be sad if the family next-door left only because I have very minimal interaction with them. I've had other neighbors up here who I was sad to see move but that was because we were friendly and would hang out.
The only thing is that when an apartment is empty you never know who you are going to wind up with next. That being said they are upgrading vacated apartments and jacking up the rent prices by at least $500/month. The thinking is that it will improve this little community. I don't object to that as long as they don't try to upgrade my apartment while I'm here. I'd have to get a roommate and I am far too old for that.

I´m not very sure that I would like to live in an apartment. I prefer houses but I don´t know whether I will be able to find what I want after selling my house.

I definitely miss living in a house with a yard, flower gardens, vegetable gardens, a patio, a grill, etc.
Life changed really quickly for me so living in an apartment was what I had to do. Most of the time it isn't awful. I wish I could go home though.

You never know who you’re going to get as a neighbor is so true. I was glad to see the guy who would knock on my door at 3am (nope, never let him in) go, but I worried about the next person who might be worse. Turned out to be a nice guy that worked from home, who doesn’t mind telling neighbor below not to play “Redneck Woman” so loud. Not a bad switch.

Our apartment complex we last lived in, got a change in ownership. So as a result they decided to replace all countertops while we were living in the apartments. ANd we were being kicked out of our apartments for eight hours while they did the work. George and I were able to move before they reached ours, although I did have to put them off twice. It's annoying that people can just come in and do upgrades while you're living there.

I hope if Smoky McSmokypants and company have moved out that you get a decent neighbor. Way too much drama in an apartment complex. Have a good weekend.
