Quite a list for one day, wow! So much to choose among.
I'll go with Union General George B. McClellan hesitancy at Antietam. I went to that battlefield. Amazing being able to walk the grounds those soldiers fought on. Here is a photo for you to enjoy of the bridge where some of the battle took place.
McClellan was a very cautious General who would only consider attacking with a massive advantage in numbers. The Confederates played into that convincing him he was outnumbered when he tried to capture Richmond in the Peninsula Campaign from March-July 1862. It led to him failing to capture the Confederate Capitol and ending the war. His hesitancy to use the Union Army to fight eventually led Lincoln to finally relieve him of command.
From one history buff to another hope you enjoyed the info,,,

Margaret Chase Smith was in the senate for a good long time too. I remember her being a Senator when I was a kid.
