Today I feel a little sad for defeating someone in table tennis

I went and played some table tennis with three guys. One of them beat me and the other two got beat by me. The idea is that I felt sad and I still feel little sad for one of those two that I beat. He seemed like a nice, hear warming person and me beating him just feels wrong, if you know what I mean. I assume that I am perceiving him as being vulnerable and this is why I feel like this. This is the first time that I feel this way, actually feeling empathy and compassion for my opponent. As I said, it could be because of the way I perceived him. What you guys think?

I am sure you did a honest play and you should not feel sad. I am sure that the guy was not sad because you won.

He is taking lessons currently from a coach / trainer, so, me giving him lessons would be redundant.

If lost to them on purpose so that you would feel good, I think it may be worse. If it is a fair game, then losing it is normal. Actually they may feel good to meet a good competition like you. Sometimes you will feel bored if you win all the time, sometimes you are eager to have a good game with a good opponent.

Only one game I played it at half my strength so that they would have a chance and they won that game in which I did not play my best.

You played a game with him in which you tried your best and you happened to win. I think he would appreciate an honest game rather than you playing it down to let him win.

I did play one game slowly in order to let him win. I basically gave him one free game.

If you won fair and square than I am sure he just accepted the defeat,
