You know you have one, or even a pack of 'em, but can you find it (them) when you want? Not on your life. But you keep looking where you've looked before until after half an hour you've reconciled yourself to having to go out and buy more, when wonder of wonders, there it/they are, right where you've already looked two or three times!

Similar to that, a few years ago I found myself wondering where I put a certain garden hand tool, only to find it in my other hand.

It happens to me all the time. My worst problem is with my favorite pair of kitchen scissors. The handle is the same color of the counter tops. They hide in plain sight all the time.

My counter top is the dark speckled kind... can't tell if it's clean or not.
