Yes! After months of waitlisting and jumping around to find a therapist, we finally were able to go through the kid's school to get someone. Of course, they are outside of our range, but they offer telecalls. My oldest has her first therapist appointment next week. We are doing a pre-tell call tomorrow to talk to the therapist before she talks to our teen. Hopefully, this helps with some of her issues that she doesn't want to talk to Dad or me about yet. It's one we are working on with the help of someone to be the middle open space for her. Therapists are not just for mental health. They are for a wide range of things, from understanding your emotions to behavior as well.

I was relieved when my parents found me a therapist when I was a teenager. I didn’t tell my parents that, but I was. I’m glad to hear you found one that fits the right criteria.

Hopefully, she likes them. It'll be like a Zoom call but solo for just her. We've always told the kids they can talk to whomever they want and that therapists are not just for people with mental health issues. They are for everyone. Sometimes, we need someone who isn't judging, just reflecting. It'll help, I'm sure of it, so when she is ready to talk to us one-on-one about things that are bothering her, we can listen.

Because, like all doctors, even therapists get busy and don't have openings. It's not like you call, and they see you right then. Nope. They also have to be in your network (health insurance). They are not always full, but depending on what you're going for depends on the type of therapist you need to see. My daughter needs a certain amount for an array of issues for her to work through. That means she needs a well-seasoned therapist who specializes in nearly everything. Some therapists only specialize in adults or children; Some don't see teens as just young. Some do only in-person sessions some do both, Some do only online. Again, they have to have openings. So if they are filled up, you have to wait till someone drops out or is done with why they are seeing a therapist. Some people need them all of their lives. Some need them for short periods of time.
