Do you know what grazing is?
When a cow eats grass it is grazing.
When an employee eats or drinks food and does not pay for it. It is called grazing.
A new women was hired and she took a small bag of chips and a drink and did not pay for them. I did not see a purchase label signed by a cashier on them. I asked her if she paid for them first. She said she would when her shift was over. I told her she has to pay for them before she eats and drinks them.
She left at the end of the day without paying for them. I took them out of the trash and paid for them. I told the store Manager I would try the next night to get her to pay for the items. She did the same thing the next night. I told her last night I paid for your items. You have to pay before you eat or drink the items.
She threw them in the trash and did not pay for them again. I told the store Manager and he looked at the receipts for those two nights and she did not pay for the items.
The next night Loss Prevention came in and she was fired. She had also stole some beauty items. She was caught on tape.
The Manager only caught her because of the grazing. She went crying out the door that she needed that job.
Than why graze and steal.

very kind of you to pay and from the start, manager should have stepped in but in the end, it proved she's not fit for this job. sad how some people throw away a job opportunity unlike other people, who would like to work but noone wants to hire them.

It was a small loss, but it's still unacceptable. It's almost like she has a compulsion, like kleptomania.
Or maybe she simply thought she knew better and could get away with it.
It sounds like she didn't even thank you when you told her you paid for the items.

Some people just feel rules don't apply to them.

That's very sad and annoying at the same time, its cool to know you have long patience. But its good for her to be fired, because she will cause a lot of stress at work for sure. Did the manager pay you for those items that you paid? that's so nice of you.

Not a good idea to steal if you expect to keep a job.

So much crime over the last 4 years. You see people breaking into stores on the news or just walking into a convenience store and walking out with stuff. And the manager is afraid of confronting them for fear of being accused of something. And if the person is arrested, they are released without bail. Maybe she thought no one would reprimand her.
I think if our government doesn't become tougher on crime and certain states don't vote out lenient prosecutors who let looters go free it will only get even worse.

I saw a young man in the supermarket once grazing on a can of tuna. He may have been in great need...I don't know. Have a good weekend.

I do not think anyone would feel sorry for her.I do not think she really needed the job. You got to be sincere to your job. If you feel hungry, yes you can have them , but pay for them , thats important. You cannot take things for granted when you are just an employee .I do no think even an employer would do that . In spite of a warning , she did not do it plus she also stole beauty items. Guess the job was a cover up , just to steal and use things for her. I was aware of the term "Grazing" till I went through your post. I knew grazing by animals. Hope you got your amount back from the store. Have a great weekend!
