My 100 Favorite Charted Country Songs: Don’t Call Me From a Honky Tonk

Well, with a title like that I guess I don’t have to tell you that this is the country half of my dual looks at my 100 favorite charted songs. Yep, it’s country through and through. And it’s long buried in country music history, pretty oblivious to everyone except me of course. Here it is. Don’t Call Me From a Honky Tonk - Johnny and Jonie Mosby They were billed as “Mr. And Mrs. Country Music.” So you know that they later divorced. It’s the country music way! Written by the legendary Harlan Howard, this was Johnny and Jonie Mosby’s first hit. They had a total of eleven top 40 country hits, but none of them made the top ten. So, even then, they weren’t “big.” This song is a “why” song. It’s why you probably loathe country music, and it’s definitely why I love it.
