So Blackfish is pretty straightforward in its topic, the captivity of wild animals in American theme parks, in this case Killer Whales in Sea World, hoards of fat Americans gawping at these majestic creatures in tiny swimming pools jumping through hoops and slowly going mad. They are not called Killer Whales for nothing, the narrative to this engaging documentary. Tilikum is the restless whale, Sea World not his first gig. He has a history at other parks, why he is moved on. We discover he gets so fed up at being stuck in a pool he attacks for the keepers for fun, dragging them under the water, and in one case killing the attendant, bored with throwing him endless fish to do tricks for. The documentary explores the world of these Sea Worlds and the well meaning staff who think they are doing a good thing by loving these creatures but merely prison guards of creatures that would really rather be swimming in the ocean than wondering WTF they are doing in a pool the size of a rich man’s garage. Killer Whales are designed to keep moving in the ocean and not suitable to enclosures .It’s the same for dolphins. After you have watched this you will never go to a sea park again. The way these animals are treated is ridiculous, there just to make someone money, nothing educational about any of it.

That is very wrong. Any form of interference with with wild animals makes them uncomfortable!

I agree with you. I like to go and watch the whales along the coast. They are in their environment where they belong.
