Widowspeak Folklore

A Widowspeak is a V-shaped hairline on the forehead portion of your head. Folklore would have you believe that this widowspeak could forecast an early widowhood. This belief may have originated in 18th-century England. Widows were expected to wear a black triangular hat, or hood that came down to the forehead. The superstition may have been due to the resemblance of the hairline and the widow's hood/hat. Another myth associated with the widowspeak was that a woman with one was smarter than her husband. It is also seen in popular culture today as a "bad guy" feature as with Dracula and The Joker. But actors in usual good guy roles such as Keanu Reeves, Leonardo DiCaprio, Chris Hemsworth, Jude Law, and, Colin Farrell all have a prominent widowspeak. It is weird how misunderstood things like this can become such a stigma in society even today.
