But this detour may lead to the place they most need to be, where the future is as satisfying as it is surprising... ~~~~ I began reading the book that follows this book (only 2 in the series) and put it down to read this book first. I didn't want spoilers. Though the books are considered standalones, if you're going to read both they are better read in order. Reluctantly, Pheonix is attracted to her boss, Cooper. He is equally attracted to her, and also overcoming his own loss. But chemistry is chemistry. Can't really be resisted, right? I was skeptical when Pheonix's sister Ridley came upon the scene. I became worried that she would move in on Pheonix's love interest/boss. But she found her own attraction. Her "brief" visit turned into something more. And she was escaping the demons of a bad marriage and was only looking for a good time. A rolls in the sheets with Baxter was something she wanted, and he did too. And they both agreed that was all they wanted... until it wasn't. Dual romance stories along with some mystery and finding life and love again. What a great read.
