search an idiom

I met an idiom today in library when I read House of Cards,oddly I failed to get a pen which always keeping in my bag formerly to copy it,and I no way to find it in the internet now,at home,I merely remember the first word is 'lock',it somewhat means one challege another. what is the idiom everybody?or show me all of the idioms involved lock,thank in advance.

Idioms are fun but one can only remember a lot! Idiom from me would be hit below the belt!

@nicegolden I have so many idioms in my native language! Another one would be raining cats and dogs! Another one would be heart in my mouth! These two were the first idioms I learned in schools!

I see you've already found the idiom: lock horns with someone. Pretty evocative. I don't recall hearing that one before, and luckily I wouldn't need to use it often. Hopefully I learned something new, as long as I don't forget.
