Hearing aids from Costco?

Have any of you ever bought hearing aids from Costco? I'm reading some good things about them. I need new ones, but they're so awfully expensive at my Audiologist's (between $4,000 and $7,000) for two. My hearing is almost at a point I could get a cochlear implant, but I don't think I want that just yet. The biggest drawback is I might not be able to sing anymore and you guys know how much that means to me. Of course, if I had no other option to hear, I might would consider it. From what I'm reading, Costco has a better service than some OTC hearing aids. My hearing's too bad to use most stores. Plus Costco does make the molded ear pieces I have to have. (Fibromyalgia makes just about everything uncomfortable for me, lol.)

I am assuming your hearing loss is more than the $279 OTC hearing aids could handle? Try Costco. It wouldn't hurt to check them out. Good luck and have a wonderful day.

@LindaOHio We're doing pretty good, thank the good Lord. My main issue now is my neck. Maybe I'll get an injection, I hope.

Yes, my hearing is almost considered severe. I could take the hearing test results and prescription from my Audiologist (hopefully) to Costco.

I have read how expensive hearing aids are. National Healthcare only pays 50% here. For the moment both my husband and I do not need any.

@1creekgirl - I have the feeling my ears are not as good as they were 20 years ago, but I can still hear very well what people say.

I'm late getting around to reading this and hope that Costco is the answer to your hearing aides. I don't know anyone who got them there and only have one friend who needs hearing aides. She paid a fortune for hers and hates them. I would probably give Costco a try.

My mom got a pair from Walmart called Audian. They were about $100, rechargeable and seem to work way better than the very more expensive ones she had before. They're worth a try.

$4,000 to $7,000 is outrageous, I've never known anyone to get those devices at Costco, but it's worth a try just to avoid the crazy prices elsewhere.

Oh, we definitely want you to be able to sing! I hope you can give them a try and they work just as well. My dad’s need to be replaced, but like you said, they’re so expensive!

I don't understand why insurance won't cover them at all. Hope your dad can get new ones soon.

That would not be my first place to go. But then I'm not quite there yet. I personally would do more research.

I've been getting my hearing aids from my Audiologist's for many years, but insurance pays nothing and they're just outrageously expensive.

Having gone to an optical department in a large grocery store, I would not find going to an even larger grocery store (Costco) a very pleasant or professional experience for hearing aids. I don't mind getting the glasses at a big box store, but the actual testing I wouldn't have done. If you have the option of just the hearing aids and not the testing, it may be worth it, although with your first hearing aids you usually require some follow up visits for adjustments.

I'm hoping I can take the hearing test and prescription I recently had at my audiologist to Costco. They'll also do a test if I want and then compare the two prescriptions. I'm not sure I would totally trust Costco without that. Although they have an Audiologist on staff and hearing specialists who are trained and NC certified.
