Sometimes its good to STOP and help, just to do it without expecting anything in return

On September 26, 2019, after Child Psychology class, I was walking to my car. I saw a 21 year old man pacing back and fourth and he seemed to be upset. Everybody was walking by him, (including me). I stopped and said to myself, maybe he is upset and needs someone to talk to just for a little bit. I turned around and went up to him. I saw tears, and asked him if he was ok and if I could help him. He said he missed something with friends, and there was a problem at work. I asked him if he has work today, and he said no, tomorrow, however he has classes that day. I was able to calm him down, did distractive talking for a bit, and than we talked about his situation. Before I left, I wanted to make sure he was ok to be alone, I asked him questions that would reassure my self that he was going to be ok. He confirmed it. He may have a small minor disability or however whether he did or not, I was glad I was able to help calm him down and hopefully I made his day. I remember when I was 21 and I had a lot of trouble, thoughts in my head about work or whatever was in my mind. It was very hard, and all we can do sometimes is; sometimes become undone. However, its always nice to have someone there, just to know if you care. Even if you don't know them, just to make sure you are ok. I felt bad for him, because I saw me when I was younger, especially when I was in Madison somewhat "homeless" at 24.

Whoa, my eyes are watery. It's great you found the courage to go talk to that guy. I'm sure it made a difference.

Well, I remember being in that situation. I believe we all go through rough spots. Appreciate the kind response.

@MNHNJP they don't or they are in fear but, again, a good deed.

It is important when people are in distress, to evaluate to make sure that everything is stable before leaving them. I am studying Psychology, not only do I have a obligation to make sure the situation is stable and safe for that person before leaving them, I want to as well. This was at the college I go to.

I totally agree. However, sometimes, I take risks. In my life alot of people helped me. I try to return the favor if I can.
