It's Never Too Early to be Thinking About Halloween

Now that October is finally upon us, it's time for me to switch gears and start thinking about Halloween. I know...it's still 4 weeks away, but when you live in Florida and don't really have a Fall season to look forward to, you have to grab hold of something to drag you out of summer mode (which it still feels like here). So Halloween is that escape from summer for me.
All the Halloween yard decorations went up last night. I hated the fact that it was 90 degrees (32c) outside with 90% humidity and I was sweating like a cat in a Chinese restaurant, but up they went. And I felt a big sense of joy and excitement once the task was completed. And interestingly, within an hour of me getting all the decorations done, there were about a dozen kids outside oohing and aahing my works of art. I wanted to dress up like an old man and run outside waving a cane at them while yelling, "You kids get off my lawn," but I'm not that kind of old man. Yet.
Anyway, I wanted to ask all of you in myLot land if you have put any thought into your Halloween costume this year. I have. I'm going to be Goofy Goober SpongeBob. I've already started putting together my costume, and it should be close to perfection by the time October 31st rolls around.
So let's hear about it. Tell me what or who you are going to dress up like this year for Halloween.
The image is a sticker I ordered of Goofy Goober SpongeBob.

SpongeBob sounds fun. And you are definitely not the grumpy old man, in fact you are a fun loving one.
We have Diwal, oir biggest festival on the same day. And yes, I have started with all the preparations.

Thanks, I'm not a grumpy old man yet. But maybe someday I will be!
I have heard many Indians speak of your upcoming festival. Do people dress up in costumes or wear traditional clothes for the festival?

@TheHorse Yes, Diwali is the Festival of Lights. It's celebrates the triumph of good over evil, of lightness over darkness.

I'll tell you what's not to love right now....we have another hurricane heading towards us. We still haven't recovered all the way from the one last week. Now I'm going to have to take down all my decorations. So sad.

I don't think they do, unless they're about to be chopped up into pieces to be served in a restaurant.

@anya12adwi It's a popular joke here in the United States, but they don't really kill cats and serve them in Chinese restaurants. At least I don't think they do.

Nope. No real reason to dress up, it would just encumber me at work.

It will do the same for me at work as well, but I'm going to dress up anyway. I would say that management can kiss my butt if they don't like it, but I'm management, so it doesn't matter. LOL

I still have some more lights I want to add around my front door and on the front bedroom window, so maybe once I get everything complete I can post a photo.
So, what are you going to dress up as this Halloween?

When that first person in the neighborhood puts up their decorations, the rest start doing it . My daughter and I have been taking zumba . . . the end of October will be our last class - it will end with an 80s Halloween party. So I'm going to go in an 80s workout/Flashdance attire .

Usually, I'm the first house in the neighborhood to decorate, but another house beat me to it by one day this year. I delayed putting up my decorations due to hurricane Helene, or else I would have definitely been first in the neighborhood!

Your costume sounds great, I can't wait to see pictures of you wearing it.
I won't dress up.
Harper and Willow are going as little tiny astronauts.
They plan on singing the child's song "Zoom Zoom Zoom" if you're not familiar with it check out Miss Rachel, she sings it on youtube.

@rakski The Christmas music hasn't started yet for us, I think September is still a little too early for it, but it won't be long before the carols are heard everywhere.

I don't think cats sweat, unless they find themselves near a Chinese restaurant. People often joke here that the meat they serve in Chinese restaurants are from cats, dogs and rats that they catch in the garbage dumpsters behind their restaurants. Not true of course (and Chinese food is delicious), but people like to joke about it.

In high school, my brother worked briefly at a Chinese restaurant as a dishwasher. He said there was a huge population of feral cats living out behind the building, and every day when he came to work there seemed to be one less cat.

I don't have anything to do with Halloween and I am guessing you took everything back down with Milton headed your way and rapidly getting stronger. Hope you are getting out and staying safe. People who live in Milton near here are sayin g that Hurricane Milton don't come this way to visit its name's sake.

That would be crazy if Milton turned and hit Milton, FL. I really hope that doesn't happen, but it would be crazy if it did.
I have not taken down my decorations yet, but will do so tomorrow night. This hurricane is going to be massive, and we are within the cone (AGAIN!), so I am taking every precaution with this storm.

I'm always dressed as a witch.
Alright, I wish. Maybe I could become a vampire witch.
Not enough hair to play a werewolf witch, thankfully perhaps.
No decorations here though, it'll be Christmas in what's gonna feel like a few days.
