To avoid a lagging laptop make sure that you buy the right specs that meets your work required performance. It is better to buy at least a Core i5 processor with 8GB of Ram and a larger storage. I know this is very expensive but it will not give you stress while working. Anyway, if you are having a problem with budgets, you can always buy a second hand with a much better specs, than buying a brand new laptop with lower specs. Many companies are doing that, all you have to do is find a reliable laptop store that sell second hand laptops. Most importantly ask for the battery life, even it is a second hand laptops, there are stores that sells a battery that can last up to 8 hours. In the Philippines you can buy second hand laptops using SSD already with 8GB RAM for only 16kk to 26k. It depends. But I think this is much better than to buy a brand new one with the same price but with lower specs. Don't you know that the letters on your CPUs have meanings? Example: Core i7 8650U Core i7 8750H Core i7 8700K U, stands for Ultra Low Power, meaning it has a much longer battery life that offers mobility and portability. But of course it kinds slower when you use it for video editing, but if your work is just for browsing and minimal task and you always travel and work while travelling, this better for blogging etc. H, stands for, High Performance, it minimize computer lags, its good for video editing and other things, but of course it needs a lot of power, so it will not offer a long lasting power without charging it. K, this is for gamers, and who love to do video editing and so many things, I mean multitasking. But I don't know if they already created computers with this kind of CPU that are not so thick and not so heavy, because during my time, this kind of laptop are very very heavy. Core i5 is better, but Core i7 Processor are for the multitasks without experiencing slow performance or lags. Just sharing what I know. Hope this will help if you are trying to buy a new laptop... just make sure you have at least Corei5 and 8GB of RAM or much higher, and better GPU for Video display. have a great day.

Thanks for the info. Did you get a new laptop lately? I was thinking of upgrading my current desktop computer but it's kind of scary. I don't even know what can be done, I don't know what motherboard it has.

I don't really know if upgrading a motherboard is much better than buying a new one, because sometimes buying a new motherboard is the same price of buying a new PC. But it depends. No, I just had my second hand laptop a gift from a dear cousin, lol! Its very old but really works well, its has an 8GB Ram, but since its very old, I can't install a much higher apps, but with all my online jobs it works better than my 4GB RAM Acer. You see, buying a new laptop but lesser specs is not really advisable. I rather find a reliable store that sells second hand with higher specs in a much lower price. Thank you for taking time reading my article. God bless.

@luisadannointed It was very nice of your cousin. Yeah, unfortunately apps are getting more demanding while prices for new devices are still too high. I'd keep the same motherboard, but it probably can't hold much power. I might just add more RAM because Chrome sometimes tells me it's out of memory and I got 8 GB. Sure, I keep too many tabs open, but still.

@somewitch Yes he is very generous. I hope you'll get a much higher RAM soon, but hopefully it still work with your processor.
