Milton has turned into a MONSTER of a hurricane & is there's no
slowing it down or changing it's course either, you really need to
pay CLOSE attention cause if you think what Carolina got was bad
this is going to be a 100 X's worse, you had better take cover NOW.

That's horrible a hurricane may do. I had personally saw by my own two bare eyes the super typhoon Odette did to our place on December 21, 2021. Great devastation of plants and crops, properties and lives occurred.

If you follow local news channels covering the storm, you'd realize that even though it's a cat 5 now, it's expected to go down to a cat 3 by landfall on wednesday. Not to say that Florida isn't bracing for inpact. We've had enough hits to know storm surge and winds ahead of the storm are no joke. Not to mention most of Florida is soaked due to a low that crossed the state ahead of the storm.
We are prepared, we have troops and crews working around the clock to clean up ahead of the storm. We've got people leaving ahead of the storm causing gridlocks. For over an hour people've been asking about flood risk here in my area.
We're ready. Or as ready as we'll ever be. Please take reports such as this with a grain of salt and consult multiable sorces. I'm inclinede to listen to my local news station on this matter. Which, by the way, has been posting hourly updates.

@2ndchances24 Because other states don't get what we do. States that get hit more often are a bit more prepared. However, there are those that can only do what they are used to.
While Cat 3 is considered a major hurricane by mederogical standards, you have to consider a lot of things here. The West cooast of Florida is prepared for strong storm surge, widespread power outages and massive flooding. Or, as best as we can be.
But, several years back we had one of the worst winters in recorded history. Places that don't normally deal with ice and snow wound up losing pipes which supplied heat and water. And, that was Texas. They didn't have supplies on hand because they didn't know that could happpen. They got themselves in the mindset of that couldn't happen to us. Florida had to use sand on ice-covered roads that year because we don't havesalt trucks. Because Florida almost never sees ice and snow, but we figured it out.
Often is the case, responace comes after the fact because until it's over, you don't know what you're looking at.
I can easily sound like I'm downplaying this storm, because I've lived through it and others like it. I've lived with blocked roads, flooding and wide spread power outages. Last year George, Chilly and I hopped between three hotels because of Ian. Because George, Chilly and I couldn't be without air conditioning. Hell, we wound up taking him to the vet in the rain and I had to give him steam treatments to clear his nose or we could've lost him, then.
I am not going to panic and act like this storm is the worst thing in the world, but I will be prepared. We'll ride it out here at home. We even declined the opportunity to take an earlier appoitment with the speach therapist because it would've been this friday and we won't be able to get out and assess the damage like we normally would because George isn't driving. So we're keeping the orginal appoitment because by then (hoping nothing else comes our way) roads should be clear by then.
so, despite how I sound online, I am taking this seriously. Because to me, this isn't really a big deal.

So your trying to tell me a cat 3 is no big deal? hells bells
it's as big of deal as a cat 5, hell even a cat 1 can tare things
all the pieces, & your right DeSantis has everything in place
why can't other states & people in his position do the same.

I saw video of the 4 lanes of traffic heading out of town. They were bumper to bumper and moving about 20 miles per hour. Stay safe.

@LindaOHio I don't like putting my life on the line when it comes to
nasty storms, rather it hit or not in my area I think safer is better.
