The category only goes to 5 but they will be rewriting the scale if this thing keeps getting stronger, 890 millibars center. 882 is the record low. That lifts the ocean up by 15-20 feet at the core and pushes it out to all parts, at the limit what Earths atmosphere allows. This thing is one of the most powerful storms to hit America on record, if it hits. Its a category 6 in all but name. Its max winds are at 180mph now, 190mph is the fastest so far in development of any storm. Its Jake Gyllenhaal time.

I'm glad it's not heading here (North Carolina), but it's bad for Florida.

It strengthened fast. I remember reading a year or two ago that they were thinking they would need to add a category 6.
