Eerie footage from the International Space Station captures Hurricane Milton intensifying into a Category 5 storm with 180 mph winds as it approaches Florida.
Recorded at 10:28 a.m. EDT on Oct. 7, the video shows the storm's small pinhole eye, which can lead to rapid intensification. Meteorologist Noah Bergren described it as "astronomical," noting the hurricane is nearing the upper limits of intensity that Earth's atmosphere can produce.
The meteorologist was nearly crying.
This is serious folks.
Had you been keeping up with this?

After going through hurricane Helene a little over a week ago, we here in western NC are paying attention even though Milton is forecast to go across Florida into the Atlantic. We aren't going to get anything from him, but we are all still very anxious just the same.

@Dena91 I too remember the Blue Ridge Pkwy ..the sight for me was incredible..this was many years ago and brief moment in time for me.
So very very sad all this. I hope Dolly is coming to the rescue too.
Yes I realize the devastation..so many are so blind about what has happened..not in reality so many people with their heads in the clouds.
I have also seen some wrong doing by FEMA according to some videos of people that are actually on the ground trying to help.
I have no problem believing this..the American people are coming last.

@RebeccasFarm Oh yes. We got about 13 inches of rain from that storm alone that week.
Boone and Blowing Rock are about 30-40 minutes just north of us and they were devastated. Asheville is about 40-50 minutes west of us, and they were absolutely destroyed. And all the beautiful towns in between. My beloved Blue Ridge Parkway is closed indefinitely because of all the trees and rockslides. We love going on it, especially this time of the year.
In our county about 60% of the homes/business lost power (we managed to keep ours on) Everyone lost their cell phone and internet service for a few days. A lot of roads were closed. A lot of trees were blown down with the winds.
Our basement flooded which isn't unusual with as much rain as we got.
We are blessed. It could have been a whole lot worse. So many around us are homeless tonight because of it.
