Will any of you need or have your had cataract surgery?

I had my first eye done two weeks ago Monday and was skittish about it even though I did read that it's so common if a procedure now that there's rarely any problems. I was going to wait a month before getting the second eye done, but at my post op the next day decided to go ahead and schedule it. The second one was done yesterday. The results are amazing even though my eyes will continue to improve over the next four to six weeks. I'll go back in a week to see how they are healing and from there it will be decided how soon I'll see the optical person there. He/she will decide how soon I should see my regular eye Dr to get a new prescription for glasses. I have an astigmatism in both eyes so will be wearing glasses the rest of my life. I'm hoping to have an image of the first coloring book I designed. I have an AI app on my phone and used an image from that for the cover and all the interior pages. I also did a coloring book for older children and adults. I've got about 34 books up now. I've been lazy when I'm not cleaning windows, otherwise I'd have a lot more done by now. I began with mainly lined journals. That is recommended for starting out to get a feel for the process. Now I'm doing simple daily planners, garden logbooks and that type of thing. I'm trying to make my own template for a daily planner. A customer requested darker fonts. Maybe by tomorrow my eye will be better and I can get back to that project. Someone online said once they got 100 books on Amazon they began getting royalties each month, so that's what I'm aiming for to start with. I've not done much writing in a long while. Hopefully I'll get back here one day. I was able to pull my one article that's made me money consistently off hunkered because they're changing things and using their own writers from here on out. I have to wait six months until it's no longer found out searched on Google etc and then I can put it in a book after reworking the material. I hope you all are doing well. Now to try the image after I load the discussion and finish super.

Did everything go well with them? It's quite interesting the difference.

@MarshaMusselman Yeah, my mom's went well as far as I recall. Bare in mind my mother passed in 2000 and this was back in the 90's when she had it done. Medicine has advanced since.

I had cataract surgery over 15 years ago. It was easy and the result was amazing. The only thing I remember about it was that I had to use some eye drops for a few days.

I had to start three types of eye drops three days before each eye has surgery. One drop only had to be continued for a week while the other two for a month. I've was an antibiotic, one is for inflammation and the other for possible pain, which I never had.

@MarshaMusselman It seems that cataracts nowadays are an easy procedure.

My parents had it. They didn't think it was too terrible

Once I had the first one done I couldn't wait for the second. It's interesting because to me certain colors pop especially on my phone. Most purples, some blues and a pink. It's like having 3-d glasses on, I'm guessing because I've never had them in before.

It was a lot easier than I expected. I never heard my mom talk about it. My sister has hers done in the last year or so but she lived in Detroit at the time.

I have tiny ones forming. I’ll most likely need surgery in 5-10 years.

@FourWalls my husband could get VA benefits but he won't. He heard they lines are very long in our area and he's impatient and has a hard time standing very long.

Medicaire will pay for a good part of it when they deem it necessary once you're old enough for Medicare.

Everyone I've known that has had it done has been amazed at the improvement in their sight.

When my first eye was done the first things I noticed is that things looked white whereas with the other eye they had a yellow cast. Now they both see things the same way other than the differences in vision.

I haven't had the surgery but have taken 3 people to their surgery and know of others who have had it and all were thankful for being able to see better afterwards. Good luck with all the projects you have lined up.

Once my newly fixed eye is less blurry I'll need to quit being lazy and work on more.

So until you get 100 books up you won’t earn money? I’m confused by that part how it all works. I’m glad the surgeries went well I would have been terrified. Stinks you will still have to wear glasses for life though .

@MarshaMusselman oh that is awesome. Nice you keep the prices low but are still earning a bit. I hope it takes off soon and you earn a monthly payment higher like hers.

That's because of the astigmatism. Although I did pray that God would heal my eyes the rest of the way. And since it takes six weeks for complete healing that's still a possibility. As far as my books, I've begun to make money already. Although the royalties for these types of books are very low because I'm not charging a lot. The majority are 6.99 with some higher if there are more pages or if it's more difficult to put together. When the one lady shared how it went for her it wasn't until she had 100 books on Amazon that she got a monthly payment of around 125.00. so far I've made between 15.00-30.00.

I think my mom did. I hope I never need it. Although if I ever do it won't inprove my vision much.

@MarshaMusselman I've already lost all of my vision due to a tbi (tramatic brain injury) My right eye just looks pretty basically. And I have tunel vision in my left. Things aren't always clear. I don't know what I would do if I develop them. I'll worry about that if it happens.

@kaylachan your can't necessarily tell when they start to develop as it's a slow process. But the time your get to that point they may be able to help you out, I don't know.

Why is that? If you're young you prob don't have cataracts yet. For me they made it hard to drive at night. It was hard to determine how far away the lights were when following cars. I didn't know it at the time but my eye Dr told me the cataracts caused that. I didn't realize how bad my vision was since it happened slowly over time. Not everyone gets the surgery. Someone I talk to online had to have one eye done to get her driver's license. Getting it done should make it easier when I'm working on my books. I'm hoping I won't have to keep zooming in to make sure text is centered correctly.

Image belongs to me
Thanks. The image for the cover and interior I got from an AI app on my phone which I've had longer than all the AI hullabaloo going on now. But I like what it can do. Here's one of the images I got that I'll use in another book.

I'll be fine. Most people need readers afterwards if they needed glasses before. I'll probably need glasses to correct the astigmatism, but hopefully less of a prescription than I have currently.
