The Incredible World of Shelf Stable Food: Part 7

Here we are, at another crossroads where to continue the journey you have to read the description of a strange, odd and unusual canned or boxed food and share with the class if you would smash it or trash it, eat it or beat it....or whatever other concoction of words that would mean if you'd say yay or nay to the culinary delight. (Man I'm on a roll with my lexicon tonight. Hee. Hee.) So anyway. This food is strange to me to begin with, because of well what it is. Now I am not trying to be rude of a certain cultures food, because I am sure there are foods here that other countries don't like. But haggis is just one of those things that has always boggled my mind. Although there are a lot of Scottish things that I feel that way about. So when I found out they make canned haggis, I knew it had to be included on this list. According to google haggis is defined as: - a savory Scottish pudding that is made from minced Sheeps internal entrails and organs mixed up with some oatmeal suet, onions and spices. Sounds oh so appetizing doesn't it. I believe that it is cooked in the stomach lining or something too. But I am not entirely sure. So the fact that you can buy that canned, is curious. I would try haggis, just to say that I had. Although, I am not entirely sure that I would try canned haggis. That might be taking it a step too far. So what say you myLot people? Is this something you'd be willing to try?

Like you, I probably wouldn't bother with the canned stuff but I'd try a 'real' one.

@JudyEv I will go with that so long as I don't have to eat entrails.

Entrails…man, once I read that word I don’t know if I could without gagging it up. I’d try, but I’d have better luck with lamb fries.

I don't think I want to look up lamb fries. I've always been a little bit of an adventurous eater and I have always been the one to do something just to say I've done it. But you're right about entrails. There's something about that, that just doesn't sit right.

@thislittlepennyearns Lamb fries are a specialty at a “famous” steakhouse in Oklahoma, and they have a festival once a year of who can eat the most lamb fries. They’re bull, uh, I’m not sure what Mylot considers okay to say. Let’s just say they serve two at a time.

@AmbiePam Oh so they are similar to Rocky Mountain Oysters. LOL. I've had those. They are....okay. Very firm but soft. Tender almost. lol

@porwest you dont know, entrails could be the most delicious things ever. And you don't like liver and onions? Or liver or gizzards? Oh wait I forgot, you're unamerican, you dont even like hush puppies.
