It's not only the nation but the whole world mourning today for the loss of a true icon. Ratan ( meaning precious jewel in Hindi) Tata died last night at the age of 86, and he leaves behind a strong legacy to inspire generations. The giant business icon was a global name. Condolences are pouring from all corners of globe.
He was successful business icon like many, but what set him apart was his humbleness and simplicity. The man had a heart of gold. His philanthropy is unparalleled. TATA Groups put back 65 percent of their profits in charitable work. His simplicity won hearts. He was one tycoon who had no enemies. Whoever met him was touched by him and could only have good vibes from him...such was his simplicity.
There is not any sector left where TATA group doesn't have it's footprints. Tata had growth in leaps and bounds under his visionary leadership.
He was a dog lover and had adopted street and stray dogs. The video of his dog paying last tribute to him is winning hearts over the Internet.
He said beautiful things. I would quote two of his famous quotes here and you can read some of his words in the picture that I share here. It's there everywhere on the Internet today.
" Don't do a business to make money, do it to make a difference".
" If you want to walk fast, walk alone. If you want to walk far, walk together ".
And that's why TATA is not only a global brand for any Indian. It's a relation and a strong emotion.
It's an end of a era, but a life that will be celebrated for generations and keep inspiring it.

Yes, it did. I remember feeling the same way for Abdul Kalam, Vajpayee, Lata Mangeshkar to name a few. You feel connected to them despite never meeting them in person.

I have not worked for Tata , but happy to use Tata products. I felt like a personal loss when we heard about his demise. The closest to that feeling was when Dr Abdul Kalam demised. He was a man of integrity and lived simple. He never made fuss or was interested in the headlines unlike some of the other business tycoons. His visionary leadership is unparalleled . Generations after generations would have to study this man to take steps in ethics and business. His life has been inspiring and he will continue to inspire many with his quotes and his footprints. Rest in Peace , Great man!

Every household felt like a personal loss. That's how we feel connected to TATA. Desh ka namak...that connects so well to common Indians. I felt the same way for Abdul Kalam, Vajpayee ji, Lata Mangeshkar etc to name a few. It seems like few people belong to everyone in the country.

Indeed! It felt like a personal loss. Somehow we get connected to few people even though we would have never met them. TATA is a true emotion for India.

@JudyEv Yes. Such kind of humbleness despite that kind of wealth and achievement is a rare combination. He was one titan with no haters. Even his competitors were in awe with him.

He was a business tycoon, a legend. He has established this empire in 100 countries across the globe. People don't remember him for the wealth that he earned. He earned love and respected by donating most of it for charity and good causes
