A most horrible and shameful crime was committed in a hospital in Kolkata at dawn hours of August 9. No words are enough to condemn the horrendous act. A young postgraduate trainee doctor was raped and murdered.
Since then TV, social media, news media and every platform is reverbating with reports, discussions, analysis and surmise and everything that can be said about things related to a crime and how the investigation is progressing. In the forefront of the case are the junior doctors, who are agitating for justice for the victim. However , since then many other demands have been placed on the table before the government. This is a festive time in Bengal but junior doctors are on a hunger strike at the heart of the city.
I only hope and pray that everything gets amicably solved soon, that doctors may return to hospitals and the students may return to their colleges and the suffering of the poor people is not prolonged further.

Natural disasters such as the two hurricanes which hit the U.S. in the past two weeks, should be a stark reminder that anything can happen anywhere and no matter how you preapare or think it can't happen to you, it can. While that's a shame, you have to remember that at the heart of this, humans are animals and despite our advanced intelgence we're no better then cats, dogs or any other animal in the animal kingdom. Anything can happen to anyone, and things happen for a reason. Feeling anger is healthy, but do not allow it to consume you. As much as we want to, we can't change ourselves. Or, I should say, no other human can do it for us. Nothing will bring that person back.
