I cannot stand them. They are ominous, ugly and creepy. But, at this time year it seems they are a favorite for Halloween decorations and, since I am trying to write a post on all possible Halloweeny subject matter. I refuse to up load a pic- oh no. There are 50,000 species of spiders. I think I will be moving to the polar regions since learning there are none in those areas. Eight eyes and eight legs--oh great. There are species that live on and underneath water. A true sigh of relief when I tell you that some species are endangered. Nearly all species are venomous. The Sydney funnel-web spider is said to be the most venomous in the world. It contains 40 different toxic proteins. The male is most venomous and can kill a human in 15 minutes. But of all 50,000 species of spiders only 25 has venom that can cause harm to humans. That is 1/20 of 1% that are dangerous to humans. There are only about three deaths per year due to spider bites. How many of you read clear through to the end?

Yes I read it all. I bet most of the really poisonous ones live in Australia I'm not crazy about spiders but the ones we get here are pretty harmless, just annoying because I hate cleaning up old cobwebs. We get cute little zebra spiders that live on walls and such places, they don't make webs but hunt by jumping. Of course they would be terrifying if they were the size of a cow but they are only less than half an inch I'm quite fond of the 'traditional' house spiders. I used to have one that lived behind the cupboard next to my bed and when I got too annoyed by the caddis flies dropping on me I would feed one to the spider which would come out and take it from me. So did you read all this comment??

I'm not into cobwebs either. The jumping would make me scream. I will have all the spiders that I see come and visit you then. Read all of your comment.

I read it again, just in case. So most species are venomous but the venom is hardly ever harmful to humans, gotcha! Luckily I'm not as afraid of spiders, but it helps most spiders at my place are small and harmless. I'm more afraid of stink bugs. I even find some spiders to be cute but I won't go into details.
