Discuss #50 for me: who is the author you can always count on?

October 11, 2024 6:11am CST
Good morning myLotters! I was just wondering who is the author that you can always count on. I mean can they make you happy? can they give you a warm feeling without fail? or some other emotion? really any way you want to feel from reading a book, some authors give readers that feeling. The writer I can always count on is Debbie Macomber. She writes heartwarming books that almost always make me feel good inside while I am reading them. I like that she adds romance to some of her books because I read something about Debbie Macomber's romances online and she said that because she is a Christian her romance scenes are clean. I notice they really are and i really appreciate that Debbie Macomber is also my favorite author What author can you always count on, and what can you count on their books to do to your emotions? BONUS question: is the your favorite author ever?

@JudyEv I was reading one like that as a book club book, but I don't think she was the author. It was a bit more about the people with blue skin.

@LovesEverybody It would probably be The Giver of Stars about a library run in the Kentucky mountains by women on horseback. It takes place during the depression.

I have always wanted to read a JoJo Moyes book but I never got to it. I don't buy many books but when I do I tend to take them to the used bookstore to either receive credit towards some used books or for money- even though the store I go to doesn't give very much. What is your favorite JoJo Moyes book?

Hmm, not sure who really falls into that category. Sophie Kinsella who (poor thing has a brain tumor currently) is one I like alot, although a couple she wrote I didn't care for that much. Favorite ever..I would say Laura Ingalls Wilder, of the Little HOuse series.

@LovesEverybody The Shop should looks especially the first ones were hysterical. In domesticated Goddess sounds like a good one. I read one by her recently though I didn't Luke too much. I don't remember the name but she keeps interfering with her sister's new marriage.

@snowy22315 it has been quite a few years, but I remember buying a copy of The Undomesticated Goddess from Half Price Books, taking it home, and falling in love with Sophie Kinsella's writing with that particular book because of its humor. That started my journey with wanting to read all of her books. The ShopAholic books were hysterical. Have you read Shopaholic Christmas? That was my absolute favorite book in the series of the ones I have read

Good question, but honestly, there are too many good authors out there. There will always be one book from each other that doesn't hit the way I wanted it to. Know, I don't have a favorite author as an author; I don't feel it right to like one more than another

I agree with you. I admit that the other day I had to quit reading a Debbie Macomber book in the Blossom Street series which is my favorite series from her. Normally she comes through for me. What are you reading now?

@LovesEverybody, I'm currently reading Vicious Seduction. It's part of a short Italian mafia romance series. The author has spinoffs of other groups or mafia types, but I haven't checked them out to see if they are something I would read. I tend to jump all over the place when it comes to romances. I'm 74% done reading the book. Overall, this is book 54 of 72 that I plan to read this year.
