In praise of honest Republicans! The effects of the two recent hurricanes.

The storms in the Southeast have led to some pretty serious lying by some on the extreme MAGA right. I believe Donald Trump started it all by saying response to the first hurricane was slow. Marjorie Taylor Greene claimed that "they" can control the weather, and at least implied that the Southeast was targeted by pesky Democrats doing exactly that. JD Vance and FOX News's spin division (I am not sure about their news division) said that money was being diverted from FEMA to support illegal immigrants. Other lies have been spread that could undermine FEMA's workers' and volunteers' efforts to help those in need.
What's interesting is that this disinformation is "forcing" Republican Governors, Senators and Congressmen from the South to refute MAGA lies for the good of their own citizens. Remember that much of the South is Trump country, or at least Republican country.
Could the recent hurricanes have the long-term effect of bringing Democrats and non-MAGA Republicans together? Will common-sense Republicans be empowered to get away from the influence of MAGA? As a Conservative (actually a Moderate leaning Conservative) I want to see the Republican party get its integrity back during my lifetime. .
This is a must-see video. It's a report about Republicans having to refute MAGA lies to ensure the safety of its citizens. I think it's from MSNBC. I'll have to check. Content warning: You probably need at least an 8th Grade education to "get" this video. It connects a lot of dots. It's only about 8 minutes long.

I believe in free speech but I also believe in stopping outright lies. To me that would come under the law for slander.

@TheHorse I admit I would not miss Fox news. . What we need is fair reporting from all of them. But these outright lies that are being told are causing harm. After Rump said they are eating the pets in Springfield they had to deal with bomb threats. And Vance even said if it takes lies to get what they want then he will lie. They should be held accountable for those. The stuff they are saying about no help in these storms are the same way.

@wolfgirl569 That was an odd statement by Vance. I am surprised it did not get more attention.

Ironically, according to Donald Trump, news outlets that spread lies should have their licenses revoked. That means that FOX should go away. But I think we need a conservative news outlet. There have been times when FOX news revealed things that the slightly Lefty press would not. Life is never simple, is it?

Such jerks! I had a gal tell me on here how great Trump was for giving the storm victims all that money. I checked into it to find that he hadn't given them anything. His campaign had set up a GoFundMe for them. That's not his money. What a down right lie.Fox News needs to just hang up their hats and go home. They can't seem to get much right. MAGA is a big time problem. Many Republicans are saying they will be voting Democrat too which I love.

Dolly Parton donated $1 million and Taylor Swift gave $5 million. That's what people who are really rich do.

Next time I sit with my heart thumping and the hurricane banging on the walls I want Trump to sit beside me, I want to know what he says,
