Hurricane Milton is gone and we have cool, partly sunny weather. May there never be another. We almost evacuated twice and then when it got scary, they said it was too late.
Our area dodged a disaster but I feel sorry for those south of us who experienced flooding and tornados.
We found the carport on top of my friend's car when it was over. Other cars were also damaged and there was an alligator under one, a typical Florida day.
Hope you all have good weather from now on. Were you in the hurricane area? What is your story?

I have watched the disasters of the hurricane. It was horrible.I came to learn it was the most disastrous hurricane in the last one thousand years. Is that true?? Your country has survived as many as five hurricanes.Am I right??
I'm glad you and your family is safe.

This is the peak time for hurricanes here. The water is hot and that makes more hurricanes form. it has been a little cooler since, so I hope the season is over. The official season is June 1 to November 30. They usually don't have any serious ones until around August.

I was. We experienced the expected flooding and power outages. Winds never got into the nearly 100 plus as predicted so a lot of us skated by with little to no damage. This morning a neighbor cleared the carpet of leaves from our driveway. Never really lost power. My solar system kept the lights on when the grid failed.

@akalinus I hope he is okay, because going as high as possible is kind a catch 22. Because you expose yourself to roof colapse and strureal damage. On the other hand, going as low as possible, you are exposed to flooding. Rule of thumb is to take the lesser of two evils. You're easier to rescue from a flood then if a roof comes down on you.

@kaylachan The truth is that if it is your time to go, you can't keep yourself safe. I am glad he is okay, the cats are safe, and of course, the car. We did not evacuate here because the news said the highways out were like a parking lot and it was bad.

It is good that the winds weren't 120-130 or more. The news was so terrifying. The mayor of Tampa said we would all die if we did not evacuate. We almost left twice but ended up staying here. They said highrises would be swept away. My son lives in one in St. Pete. He couldn't go anywhere with three cats. His girlfriend was in Chicago. He took the car to a garage and went as high as possible.

I'm glad you're OK. We're in Ohio. Sometimes we will get wind and rain from a hurricane but not this time. Have a good weekend.

Thank you. Do you have alligators or crocodiles in your country? I watch YouTube videos of China often. It is a dangerous place to live. I see people climbing up mountainsides to get to their homes above. Some have ladders and even little kids climb up.

@jefferson126 I am glad to know that not everyone lives on top of cliffs they must climb up. I sometimes fall in my house and would not like to climb those ladders.
