Did anyone see the Northern Lights this week? As a kid they were only in the Arctic Circle. Now they are all over the place! I suspect there are more sightings as social media spreads the word they are out but more importantly peoples cameras and phones have filters and features where they filter out unnatural light and so looking through your camera video you see the Northern Lights.
We now they dont move rapid like they do every-time you see clip on the news, flapping away like a Nepal scarf on top of Everest, In fact the whole mystique of the Northern Lights has gone now we can all see them.
So the images you see online are mostly taken with filters that exaggerate what the person saw, or not as the case maybe,.

All cameras are like that. they can't capture images anywhere close to what the human eye can persecieve. And, no, I didn't. weather conditions were against me this week.

I agree that the mystique has gone. I am yet to see them but do go to the local park to see if I can spot them from time to time

I've never seen Northern Lights in person but some appeared near my place a few months ago. I was probably asleep at the time so I missed them. And I live close to the 45th parallel north.
I've always thought fast-moving northern lights were just time-lapses, but I didn't know there was more editing involved.
