At the Rate We Are Going Now

What do you think? I mean, don't you agree that space exploration and the billions of dollars spent is a colossal waste of money that could better be spent here on earth to fix many of the problems we have here now or what? I mean, I love the excitement of other planets for sure, but I was thinking the way the world is now and all that is going on, will we even be existing to get to live on another planet?

Space research can benefit earthlings and I guess exploration can also be beneficial to some extent but yes, that's a lot of money, if not too much! While public funds are still the majority, there are a bunch of private companies investing in this sector and I guess they can do whatever they want with their money. I wish countries would spend less in warfare, or actually stop wars, space would prolly be next.

@Treborika And lots of resources too, such as rare earth, and it can be polluting. After all, banks can print as much money as inflation allows.

I think that it is just a natural progression given how advanced our world is now in comparison to when we first sent astronauts to the moon. I will always opt for earth, I like it here.

Big countries are now competing for space exploration. I think other than national prestige, some political and national defense issues are involved.

I partially agree and partially disagree on this. Partially agree - Yes , we should resolve some of the issues we have created on Earth. Some of them need money to be spent and some just dialogues or negotiations. The only challenge getting all countries on the same page is a tough job unless they all have a common enemy. But , yes the money spent could be utlized to resolve ecological issues and advancement of science. Partially disagree- Life on Earth is finite. As Sun enter the red dwarf or thanks to our actions, Earth becomes inhabitable, we need to see a different plant to live. Understanding the Galaxy and our next destination is important as there would be a point that we would need to leave Earth and settle in a different planet if human race needs to survive. The only way we could see both points would be spend amounts in a ratio and that could help solve many things!

Yes half and half spending that takes more sense my friend I like your thinking.

I've often thought the same. I've also thought that we shouldn't bother trying to inhabit another planet - humans would most likely ruin that planet too!!

The main problem is due to ego and hatred trumping coexistence. Our agenda is set by arms dealers who want the world to fight and kill each other so that they can count their money with no end. 99% want peace but the 1% decide our fate.

It is certainly a question of balance. Who knows what we will find or the way manufacturing could be improved, but we mustn't forget the problems at home

I am sure too much money is being wasted on the space exploration. Many people are languishing in poverty and dying of Hunger in most parts of the world. A good chunk of that money could help in saving up of lives rather than exploring the space yet most parts of the earth is not explored for sure.
