October Heat

Ahmednagar, India
October 13, 2024 10:46am CST
We are almost halfway through the month of October. And in India, it is pre-winter period. That's not all. This month has usually more heat especially after the rainy season and before the winter season sets in. Apart from the summer days, it's this month that has more heat outside the summer season. How is the climate in your area? Is it raining? Or are there normal bearable days? Or are you feeling the heat - well, pun intended

It has been SO hot here. This week it should drop about ten degrees, but it will still be hot and humid.

OMG! SO hot there, as you said. Dropping around 10 degrees is a very big difference. But still you say it will be hot and humid. It means it's really very very hot out there. I can imagine it from the way you described it. Just take care

It's 69 degrees right now, that's the high. Tomorrow and Tuesday, high in the 50's, Tuesday night it is supposed to be down to 30. If so, that's the end of my little garden. But it's about done producing, I am just thankful for the yummy things it produced for us, however small, it was an intense, fierce garden--it tried very hard!

@abhi_bangal Woah...just wait a minute and put your thinking cap on, OK? I am in a country (the US) that measures temperatures in Fahrenheit. You measure yours in Celsius. There is a big difference. 69 degrees is not hot at all. It isn't cold, either. Our freezing point is 32 degrees Fahrenheit. I believe yours is 0. C. ''''In countries like USA and Canada, temperature is measured in Fahrenheit, whereas in countries like India, it is measured in Celsius.''''

We share more or less the same geographical locations. Is it really so hot there? Yes there is heat here as well. But it's only during the day time. When the sun sets and the darkness follows, the air starts to cool and it's quite better during the night.

@abhi_bangal Yes, the balconies' floors remain heated till night!!! The air doesn't flow much here!

@anya12adwi You might be having either east or west facing house, I believe. Without that your balcony flooring shouldn't be heated until night this way. Heated floors also keep the temperature inside the rooms up needlessly. But that would be great during the winter season, isn't it?

A few days were quite hot - almost 37 C. Yet now the night temperatures are already falling here. It was 18 C yesterday!! So the day - night mercury difference has increased. It can be testing especially from the health point of view!

@abhi_bangal We had to go to visit a Physician at a Hospital as one Family member has been unwell today afternoon. To our surprise, the OPD was so full even on a weekday. Looks like people are getting ill due to irregular meals, more eating out, pollution and weather.

We didn't have this kind of fluctuation like you mentioned. But yes the day and night temperature do fluctuate to an extent. And having such a huge fluctuation can really be very challenging health wise. It's better to be alert and take care of yourself.

This is really interesting hahaha One of the friends @AmbiePam, says it's SO hot there. And here you are saying it's CHILLY. It's really interesting to see how the weather conditions in different parts of the world are. We will also be entering winter soon. But this heat is the prelude to winter I must say.

@wolfgirl569 Yup. Just discussed the same with @MarieCoyle. And we see the same kind of climate fluctuations here in India as well. North India has snow, while the south parts are feeling the heat, literally.

Our winters are usually mild but the last few years, we had extended periods of below-freezing weather. I don't like winter, that is why I moved here from the northeast. It is usually hot here. We just went through two back-to-back major hurricanes that were devastating. i don't know which is worse, hurricanes or blizzards, freezing rain, and ice storms.

Apart from you, I have heard a couple of more friends from the US, who said that they don't like winters. But for me it's totally the other way round. We have been living in a comparatively warmer region which makes winter and snow really a dream for us. Snowfall is something we haven't experienced in our entire lifetime. And snowfall hasn't taken place here for decades together, or even you can say for centuries together.

@akalinus Yes. I can understand. You are talking about things that we are experiencing with heat. I mean to say, it might be very difficult and frustrating to dig the snow out each and every time, isn't it? But your decision to move was a solid brave one. I couldn't move, because we have been living here for decades now. Everything is set and settled. So couldn't leave the routine and move somewhere else. The biggest question was of finding something for livelihood. That wouldn't be possible at a different place. So, I'm not in a mood to relocate. But I'm happy for you.

@abhi_bangal We have a lot of snow in the northeast. Sometimes, it takes a long time to dig out. I hated the cold and snow more every year. I finally moved. I said I couldn't do winter anymore.

This week the temperature has dropped more than 20 degrees. We are experiencing more fall-like temperatures. We had some heavy rain yesterday. Have a good week.

That's quite a huge drop of 20 degrees. It might have suddenly started to feel chilly, isn't it? You mentioned fall-like temperature, but hey, I'm not aware of what the temperatures are during the fall. Feeling
